Hello, im new here and my names chelly, i have been unhappy with my weight for a while now and im sure there on many others on this site the same, im 16 and sadly weigh 18 stone, i really wanna loose weight but i never seem to be able to as i always give up after a week from seeing no results. but this time im gonna keep trying as i am really unhappy and i hate my body.

Hi,

I totally get where you are right not. I was 16 when I started feeling big and being miserable about it. I'm ashamed to say that it took me 10 years to get the confidence to do something about it. Don't wait for the best years of your life to be over before you gain some confidence.

If you want to see results when you are dieting, then look at the scale, rather than your body. Changes in your body week to week are so small that you will hardly notice them happening - but if you keep at it, you will keep shrinking dress sizes without really noticing.

You don't need to starve yourself, the important thing is to make yourself feel like you havent been deprived - I've found that counting calories works for me. Work out how many calories you burn in a day and try to eat around 500 cals less than that (if you go to a gym and do some extra excercise you can eat more) - this way you will lose around a pound a week. By the time you are 20 you will have lost 10 stone if you just lose 1lb a week. Your 20s are so much fun - use that age as your aim to work towards.

i agree with everything ms23 said, including her method of losing weight. I did exactly the same and it worked for me. I lost the weight I wanted to lose gradually over a year when i was 19/20. I'm thankful everyday that I made the first step then and stuck with it. My only regret is not starting earlier. I wish I could have gone through the end of high school and the beginning of college feeling as confident as I do now.

Use your unhappiness as motivation. I had to hit rockbottom before I made the decision to do something about it. Try not to think about all the weight you want to lose and how long it might take. You have to take it day by day. Purchase a scale and use the calorie counting method ms23 suggested each day, even for as little as a week. Your weight WILL drop. Best of luck, you can do it!!

Hi there Chelly, I've just joined under the same sort of pretenses, I loose motivation after seeing no results after a week, and it generally goes no further than that :-\ As jmins7 said, use your unhappiness as motivation, that's my plan this time around anyway! :)
