Changing lifestyle

Hello everyone :)

I've heard a lot about if you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you'll live longer.

Well, I'm 18 and overweight - not majorly overweight though - just a bit chubby. But I was wondering: If I've been eating unhealthy food and drinking unhealthy drinks for, let's say about the last 5 years - is it too late for me to clean all of the unhealthy stuff out of my body and improve my chances of living longer?

By no means is it ever too late to start treating your body well. People with countless health issues have been able to completely turn their lives around and start living healthily. If you can make the change, it can definitely improve your longevity.

Another thing is that's I'm somewhat addicted to unhealthy food. I can go without it for a couple of days, but I usually break and start eating it again.

So is there any healthy alternatives? I really like Subway - is that healthy?

Also, are there any healthy snacks to replace sweets?
 
Subway food is "ok" for you, and I'm saying that with an air of generosity.

Generally, unless you get a vegetarian sandwich, you're not going to be getting nearly enough vegetables that you need in a meal.

Also, while some sandwiches will be low fat and healthy in protein, Subway definitely doesn't have quality ingredients. The meat is all deli meat, which isn't high quality protein and tends to be high in sodium. The cheese is most definitely processed and likely can't be considered to be anything more than a cheese-like-dairy-product. Not even the bread is really that great for you, as it's all made from white flour. (Never confused 'multi-grain' with 'whole-grain.)

That being said, it's fine to have Subway now and then, but it's certainly not a good idea to base your diet around it.
 
When you are eighty years old will you then turn around and then say, ‘OK now I’m ready. Now I have the time to eat more healthily, do more exercise and find other ways to respond to emotions instead of overeating. Would that work well for you?

If you continue to eat too much, or eat unhealthy food, or fail to exercise then fine but you will then continue staying overweight or continue gaining weight.

The outcome for not changing anything will be how you will be in twenty thirty or forty years time.

I recommend change this type of attitude as early as possible. If you really want a different outcome then you have to do something differently.
