Casein?

OK, I have read a lot of discussions about Casein. I've read the definition of it, so I know that, but...what exactly does it do? Why is it so good for you? I heard cottage cheese is great to eat before you go to bed (and I love cottage cheese BTW) but why? I usually try not to eat anything after 8 or 9, but cottage cheese is OK to eat at night? Thanks! :)

casein is just a type of protein, like whey.. whey is protein in it's simplest form, which allows it to be quickly used by your muscles. but when you sleep you muscles still need protein, but most types of protein will be used up to quickly, in 1to 4 hours. usually people sleep for 8, so catabolism is occuring at the end of your sleep with out protein. casein protein is more like a slow release protein, it curdles in your stomach, slowly releasing it. therefore it lasts much longer, and is better for overnight use..

what are soom good sources of casein, I do not care for cottage chesse so I was wondering what are some other good sources :)

Cottage cheese is so good! I have heard from various people on here that it is good with cinnamon, so I might try that, but I love it just on its own. Mmmmm...too bad I don't have any now.
