carbs/protein question

hi
if i have low/no carbs in me ... high protein... and moderate amounts of fat ... would my body use protein as the next energy source ? or would it draw its energy equally from protein and fat ?

i cut carbs outta my day at around 5-8 ... but i continue to eat protein till about 10-11 ..
so when i go to bed i usually have prety low carbs in me ... and since i eat alot of protein thruout the whole day .. i have high protein ...
will this large amount of protein being in me before i go to bed, get burned up as an energy source and not burn the fat ?
or would my body burn fat and protein equally?

so i worked out before bed ... if i had high protein in me ... would my muscles use protein and the rest of my body use fat for a source? (kind of a weird question... but im just curious)

the reason im asking is because im tryn to lower my bodyfat.
thanks

ok well eating slow digesting protein like casine 30 min before bed is a good thing, it will help avoid muscle catabolism among other things.
(would it draw its energy equally from protein and fat ?) that depends on alot of things but generaly it will take energy from the protein.
(so i worked out before bed ... if i had high protein in me ... would my muscles use protein and the rest of my body use fat for a source?) doesn't work like that, your whole body will use any energy source. if your talking about hypertrophy well that uses protein.
(im tryn to lower my bodyfat.) lower your calorie intake and do cardio. what your talking about will help you not gain fat tissue, among other things. this topic is somewhat complex and difficult to explain, so sorry if this doesn't make sence.

no, i get what your saying.
i know the complex details about losing body fat and such (lost about 22lbs over last 3 months).
it was just one of those things i wondered about ... if your body uses the most abundunt source of energy in your body, or if it uses certain types at certain times (while sleeping).
also the fact that when your body isn't in dire need of energy (sleeping for example) it turns to using fat as an energy source..(although in this situation you don't burn more calories but a higher fat % of calories).
i was just wondering if protein is also significantly used for energy when sleeping... and even if it is ... it can't be that much to cause that much catabolism.
im just paranoid about losing muscle right now ... even though im not losing that much muscle, im just paranoid about it. It's like WW3 between me and cortisol.

ok try it agen
Q:"if your body uses the most abundunt source of energy in your body, or if it uses certain types at certain times (while sleeping)."
A: it will use what ever is in abundants for the most part.
Q: "also the fact that when your body isn't in dire need of energy (sleeping for example) it turns to using fat as an energy source.."
A:you will only be in dire need if your energy stores are very low, this can happen while sleeping. if you eat somthing and your body does not use it then that will be stored as fat, this is most prominate with foods of high glysemic index (GI), and your body will mainly turn to useing muscle as a food/energy source, which is catabolism of muscle.
Q: (although in this situation you don't burn more calories but a higher fat % of calories)."
A: unless you sit on a couch all day eating potato chips you will burn more Adipose tissue (fat) in your waking houres if thats what your asking?
Q: " was just wondering if protein is also significantly used for energy when sleeping"
A: yes it sure can be, all depends
Q: "it can't be that much to cause that much catabolism"
A: protein will not cause catabolism of the muscle or fat, catabolism of your muscles will happen once your energy stores are low so if you don't got any food in ya that's what you can expect, it will also catabolise fat but not nearly the same amount.
and yes you are just paranoid, so what have we learned? eat somthing with a low GI at night so your body has somthing to munch on all night long, like cottage cheese it's cheep it's good and will do wonders for your paranoia.

hrm ... i dont think i really stated my question(s) clearly, i never really can ... but you did clear up some things ..thank you.
im gona stop worryin so much also ... worrying about it is a form of stress ...which is probly contributing to muscle catabolism , haha. how ironic.
ne ways thanks again!
