Can you still lose weight...

Yes, you will lose weight, but you could become malnourished if you aren't getting the proper nutrients. At the very least, take vitamins. Be aware though that your body will not be able to absorb and utilize vitamins nearly as well as if you were getting them from proper eating habits.

I definitely would not recommend going as low as 1000 calories. Too little food will only lower your metabolism. From what I understand, 1200 is the minimum recommended amount, but even that is extremely low. I'm sure somebody else could give you better advice. :)

yea, i agree, you COULD lose the weight, but you wouldnt' have much energy I can imagine and I'd worry about things like your cholesterol levels and such that would be effected.

Can you still lose weight if you eat a low amount of calories (like 1,000-1,500 a day) but its not in healthy food?

Yeah, you can still lose weight. I don't really think it would be for the best though. It's important to pay attention to the nutrition of the food you're eating. Yes, regulating your caloric intake is important, but so is maintaining proper nutrition.

Eating foods that aren't so healthy doesn't necessarily mean you will gain weight. But, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll lose weight either - even if you consume 1,000 to 1,500 calories per day.

The nutrients contained in the food you eat indirectly affect your ability to lose weight. For instance, sodium not only causes you to retain water, but it also makes you thirstier. And, if you are thirsty, you are more likely to drink more liquids. And, unless you are drinking nothing but water or zero calories drinks, you're going to be sucking in more calories than you think. Not to mention, it's bad for your arteries.

Each nutrient has its own affect on your body. So, along with watching your calories, pay attention to the nutrients.

if you eat alot of junk food it can make you feeltired too, eating good nutritious food will help with energy level making sure your body has all of the vitamins and minerals it needs x

Yes, you can.
It's all about in calories in versus out.
There was a man that wanted to prove the in vs. out thing by doing a twinkie diet, and he had pretty awesome weightloss.
There was also a man that ate nothing but potatoes for a year and lost loads of weight.
But, neither diets were healthy.
Going on a diet doesn't have to mean you need to sacrifice all those yummy foods you like, you can eat in moderation while adding more nutritional food to your diet.
So the occasional crisps, chocolate is quite ok!

It's like filling your car with really cheap gas. Sure it will run and you'll save money, but it won't perform to the best of it's ability and it will break down a lot quicker.
