Can someone tell me why

I eat 1200 calories a day, walk on the treadmill at 3.4mph for 60 minutes everyday, watch my sodium intake and still have only lost 11lbs in 30 days? What could I possibly be doing wrong? BTW, I weigh 219 and am 5'2. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

11 lbs in a month is lots. In fact, it's right on or just over the border for healthy, sustainable weight loss at your height and weight.

Just keep doing what you're doing. If things slow down, increase the intensity or the duration of your exercise. Don't decrease your calories. They are already quite low, even for your puny size. :p

You're doing great. Just keep at it! :D

Hi Samantha,

try doing a simple cleanse for your body. Those have a tendency to reset your metabolism. A good one to do is the master cleanse. Google it. the recipe should be online. If not, email me and I will send it to you.

11 lbs is quite a bit of weight in a month. don't be so hard on yourself.
The key to weight loss is consistency.

11 pounds in a month is alot. Alot of people can't do more than 7 or 8. I'm not sure what you were expecting, but if you were influenced by advertisements that "guarantee 18 pounds in a week!" and gimmicks like that, well then fret not - that 18 pounds does not stay off and is NOT healthy. Anything more than 10 pounds a month and you will have a hard time keeping it off. 10 pounds a month is a great goal to keep, however. You definitely aren't doing anything wrong!!

As far as this goes:

While I have not done it, nor will I ever, I've researched this quite a bit and know close friends who have attempted it. This definitely gets a thumb down in my books, for weight loss anyways. I don't consider the master cleanse a viable solution for sustainable weight loss, and I strongly advise you to research it alot and read what other people have to say about it. Generally, the master cleanse is frowned upon, and I tend to agree with those people. Then again, I know very little and you would be best to listen to more knowledgeable answers from people around the boards.

But that point aside - your weight loss is doing great as it is with your eating plan. Just rememeber to keep eating healthy foods for your calories and eliminate as much junk from your diet as you can, and you'll do great!

Keep up the good work - 11 pounds in a month is a GREAT start!

Good Job

You have obviously taken charge and are determined to get healthy. Gradually increasing the excersize well help to not only burn calories, but to increase matabolism.

Once your body gets used to your current food level it may stop "holding on" to the weight as well.

Also, excersize for an hour day is not enuogh if you are completly inactive the rest of the day. There are little things you can do through out the day to add a little excercise that really adds up. Such as parking farther away, taking stairs, etc.

Thanks for all the advice. Although, I am anything but inactive for the rest of the day. I chase two year old twins around every second of every day. Plus, I have all the household chores which include, but not limited to the following, laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, and picking up after the children.

I guess I just had higher expectations. I know in my mind it's not just going to fall off. Although, that would be nice!

Your doing great, most lose 1-2 lbs per week. I know it seems slow at first but before you know it will be May and you'll be down like 40lbs and so on and so on. I would always try to think of how much weight I would have gained if I wasn't losing in the same time period. Keep up the good work.
