Weight-Loss

Good afternoon all,

My partner and I recently decided to lose some weight and change our diet a bit.

I want to lose about 15 pounds of fat, he wants to lose about 50-60.

We also started exercising daily. We do three day rotations of weights with a day off between, and one hour of cardio daily.

According to the cardio machine and our research, we are burning between 800 - 1000 calories daily depending on the routine.

We began at 1600 calories and have been at that level since early January.

He has lost 20 pounds, I've lost 10. He has continued losing weight, I appear to have stopped (though it could just be that I'm putting on muscle and losing fat, I certainly notice a difference in the way I look). I'm sitting at about 170, he's at 210.

We also cut all animal products out of our diet, and I'm allergic to wheat, so we have a fairly restricted diet.

I'm confident that we eat a varied enough diet to get all the vitamins and nutrients we need, but I am a little concerned about calories.

If my math is right, then his caloric needs are sitting at around 3500 daily, and I'm at 3000.

Is it okay to cut down by so many calories? I'm thinking about moving us up to 2000 daily, but is this enough? I don't want us to starve our bodies, but we honestly don't seem to have any difficulty at this level. The only thing I've noticed is that I've gone from sleeping about six and half hours a night to sleeping ten hours a night...

I'm also concerned about protein. Having no wheat, meat, dairy, or eggs in our diet, and eating 1600 calories a day makes it hard to get the 100 or so grams of protein I think we need. I'm also concerned about having too much soy in our diet, which seems like one of the easiest sources of protein for us.

I've read so much conflicting information....
