Calories burned on equipment

Hey, the elliptical / crosstrainer i always look at the calories and think it doesn't burn much, because it takes me 10 minutes to burn around 100/120 calories. On the bike i manage to burn 200/210 in 10 minutes.

Does anyone here (author and readers) know if the bike is better than the cross trainer for burning calories and fat? Or is the x trainer.

Thanks.

I dunno but keep in mind that the machines often overshoot by 10-20%, they're not very accurate. On an indoor bike, it's doubtful that you're burning over 1,200 calories per hour, which is what the rate is that you're supposedly burning. If you had a separate heart rate monitor you might could compare the two activities in a little more accurate manner. If the elliptical was accurate though, 600-720 calories per hour is nothing to sneeze at. You usually have to get into some pretty serious athletic performances to beat that.

It also depends on your height and weight. I weight over 250 lbs and I only burn 800ish calories an hour doing moderate intervals on the elliptical and about 650 on the bike. 1200 cal/hour seems far-fetched.
