Calorie min-max for breastfeeding

I just was wondering if anyone knew what an ok calorie limit is for a breastfeeding mom. My son is almost 9 months old, so he only nurses about 6 times a day and eats baby food. I have heard different stuff, so I just thought I would see if anyone had an answer. :)

Hi lightening!

I have no idea? It is really based on your calorie needs and your baby and that is different for everyone. Wish I could be more help!

I really don't know the limit on that, i BF my son for 6 months, during that i never considered dieting i just kinda decided to wait for that just because like you i didn't know the limit, he's now 8 months old so i'm doing the whole weightloss, finally. But if you want to watch your calories, i mean all you gotta do is eat healthier, decrease your portions a little, besides i know that breastfeeding can burn up to 500cals , so i mean don't stop eating ,eat healthier.

Id say eat when your hungry. If you have a lower intake its not going to starve your baby your body is going to take away from you inorder to feed him.

I know alot of Dr will incurage over weight people to breast feed because it gives them a chance to drop a few LBS with not alot of effort.

breastfeeding calories

To see how many calories you need while breastfeeding all you have to do is add 500 extra calories to what you would normally take in. Even when trying to loose weight. 500 is the estimated amount of "energy" it takes your body to produce the milk.
Good with the your weight loss! My daughter is 21 months old and I'm just now getting around to loosing the weight.
