I don't understand the whole calorie intake thingy. What I mean is that how many calories to lose a day to lose a couple of pounds a week. I read somewhere if you take 500 less calories in your body a day and exercise 500 calories off a day you could lose a pound a week. I can't find much info on this & I need everybody's expertise. Please help me:(. I have been struggling with my weight ever since I was 12 yrs old and now 20 yrs old.

20yr old male, what is your weight? If you provide me with this information I can probably help you gain an understanding on how the whole calorie intake thing works.

Depending on your BMR, if you eat 500 Cal less, and burn 500 Cal more, thats a 1000 Cal deficit a day, and 7000 Cal deficit a week.3500 Cal Equals a pound. So 7000 Cal deficit a week would be two pounds a week weight loss.

Don't worry about all of that. Focus on this: eat 2500-2800 calories a day, exercise 45min-1h 4 times per week. If you do that, you will lose weight. Saying 3500 calories is equal to one pound is absolutely ridiculous. There is so much more that has to be taken into account (metabolism and stress for example). Just focus on cutting fatty foods from your diet, work out a lot, and you should be good. Counting calories is always a good thing, but don't obsess over it. Obsession leads to stress, and stress leads to a reduced ability to lose weight.

Your #1 priority should be to change your lifestyle. This means eating healthier and becoming more physically active. An effect of this will be weight loss. Win win.

Good luck.
