calorie counting

Maintenance:*2978 Calories/day
Fat Loss:*2383 Calories/day
Extreme Fat Loss:*2320 Calories/day

i am 21. 5ft2 about 290 give or take i exercise daily now... i wouldn't say too intense... so are those calculations accurate? if so... ive only been taking in 1200-1500 now..more like an average of 1350cal/day. is that good?

Given your height and weight 1300-1500 cals is WAY too low. Go with the recommended numbers above. 2300-2500 is much more resonable.

ok thanks... i was just thinking that the recommended calorie intake didn't seem like that big of a difference so i wasnt sure.

Then the calorie intake that im supposively takin in...i didnt see a big difference between that amount and the recommended calorie intake to lose weight. thats all.

i didnt see a big difference between that amount and the recommended calorie intake to lose weight.
I still don't understand.

You don't see a big difference between the 1300 that you're eating and the 2300 that you should be eating?

Lol kara u helped me out with your first comment. i was saying that i did not see a big difference between the 2900 something cal/day im supposively eating and the 2300 something cal/day the site recommended for me to take in. i know theres a big difference with the 2300 and 1300. i was just not sure if 2300 would produce results...i guess im over come with tryn to lose weight that i want to make big changes fast and i know that may not be healthy. thats why i was asking if 1300 would be okay or too drastic

Well, the differene between 2900 and 2300 is 600 cals, right? So that's a little over 1lb a week by the numbers. Add some exercise to that, and you've got about a 2lb a week weight loss - which is a reasonable and healthy amount.

well there is a faster way and some do that and theyre the ones who do so at an unhealthy rate. thats why i asked.

oh and thanks again kara. i dont know how many calories equal one pound... or healthy counting honestly. but to know that i could lose 1lb per wk with only that much of a change is a little more calming and reasonable. thanks again i have no more questions.

Ive counted so many calories for SO many years .. i could tell you just about how many calories there is in ANYTHING lol .. Congrats on leaning towards and more healthy lifestyle :) This is a great place to find information and get support. Keep up the great work ! :)

Yeah...that absolutely doesn't work. If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain. Burn more than you eat, you lose.

I prefer burning fats with good fats. Have you hear of it?
No, but whatever it is, it's hooey. You burn fat by being in a calorie deficit. However you do that - counting calories, just eating less, exercising more, or some combination of the above - that's all fine. But there's no such thing as "burning fats with good fats". It doesn't work that way.

What I mean is fats like avocados, olive oil, nut, all good fats, not like the ones you see this days in supermarkets (new fats) and you are right if you are losing weight you need exercise.
