hello.
i havent been on this forum since last year id say, but i used it alot back then so you might remember me.
anyway, this is quite off topic for the forum but its to do with muscle,
i have rather large calfs than i should have, and its not fat its muscle and i dont know what sort of excerisses or things i need to reduce these, as its a big problem for me. does anyone else have this problem?
also i am STILL trying to get rid of those last 7 pounds, the hardest ones to get rid of id say! but am muh down in weight since last year.
anyway, sorry that the muscle thing is rather off topic but i have tried others and i just think this is the most reliable forum for me, and ofcourse the best.

thankyou.

Hi Lora!

I'm working on the last few pounds as well! AND I have very muscular calfs :) I think that is something we need to love and life with! I can't find tall boots that fit me - but other then that - it's not such a bad problem to have right?

I've been on this forum for about a week and I have to tell you it has provided me with more support and good advice then anything else I've tried. What I've done is tweek my diet to slightly increase protein and decrease carbs. I've also doubled my cardio. I feel like I'm already seeing results but don't want to weigh and measure just yet ;)

Good luck!

What's large? how many inches/cm are they and how are are they in proportion to the rest of your body...

Spot reducing isn't really possible...

What does your current exercise plan look like - especially lower body exercises...

muscles i think need something like 69 cals/ pound to maintain itself (in comparison with fat which needs 9 cals/ pound and is nowhere close to burning as many calories) so i dont think your goal should be to purposely try to loose muscle - this may also hinder your weight loss even more as you will be burning even less calories once you loose the muscle. also, your body image could be genetic which may not be changed very easily. do any of your close relatives have disproportionately large calfs? anyway hope that helped and the best of luck on your weight loss

What is the measurement of your thighs? 16 does not sound too big to me. There are lots of women out there with tabletop legs that would be envious of you! I think you should put on the high heels and show them off!!!

how big are your calves susan?

Mine are 14 1/2", and my thighs are 20". I know it's so easy to focus on something about your body that you think is out of proportion - I do it all the time! But I bet it is not as bad as you think - and maybe not bad at all. I want to see a pic of your legs! The whole leg - not just the calf ;)

I have the scrawniest stick calves compared to my body. Can we trade? :p

At 40 pounds overweight, my calves are 14.5". Bird legs are not a good look for a hefty girl.

I have large calves as well (18'). I love tall boots and refused to be denied- so I just take them to the shoe repair and have them sew elastic into the shaft. Works great, you can add a good 2-5 inches to the shaft.

I'm just about 190 lbs. Yep, they look like little sticks. And don't get me started on my ankles! I swear they are almost as small as my wrists!

I think it's just the way you are built and there isn't much of a chance of reduction. I could be wrong though
