I'm just going to be blunt here...

So wat do you all think of me fasting for a week? Fasting isnt bad if you know what youre doing and how to do it.

and living off of Caffeine, water, and vitamins? NOT a good idea.

i need to loose atleast 20 pounds in the next two weeks? is that nuts? YES

If you plan to loose weight and keep it off...this will never work.

Are you trying to meet a certain weight class for wrestling? If not, you are setting yourself up for a big rebound after your fast is over. You may lose 20 lbs in 2 weeks, probably mostly water and muscle. But you will probably gain back 30 when you go back to your old ways.

So this is my 5th day fasting, ive lost some pounds already, but according to this fasting guru that i looked up, you must limit your activities because you will have less energy. My third day of fasting i found myself with more energy then ever. I ran for a good hour. On the fourth day i found that i was feeling better about myself. Today is another great day for me. I find that fasting is helping detoxify my body and helping me get intune with myself. after my 10 days of fasting i plan to incorporate small portions of organic food into my lifestyle as well as exercise in moderation.

Looking forward to the answers here... Could fasting jumpstart a normal, healthy diet? I know I've seen diets where you just drink 7 shakes a day, etc and people lose weight fast and roll into a good meal plan and excercise with a lot of success.

Thoughts?

As far as conventional science goes, from what I know, attempting to lose more than 2lbs a week can be harmful to you. Some people will be able to lose more than 2lbs in any given week, but if your plan relies on you losing more than 2lbs a week for the duration (and yours does) then its definitely not a good idea.

The reasons this is harmful are varied, but mainly, when your body feels as though it is starving it will conserve fat and use up muscle instead. This will result in weight loss, but it is hardly the kind of weight loss that is healthy and probably not what you are looking for.
