Burning out

So my "trainer" (friend who thinks he knows everything) tells me if I want size (semi hypertrophy while still gaining strength) my last set should be a burn out set. That's apparently when I do my last set til exhaustion, then immediately lower the weight, and do that til exhaustion, until I'm on a ridiculously light weight and my muscles completely give out. Is this recommended? Or would it end up in overtraining? I did this tonight for triceps and I admit it felt great and my tri's feel very worked, but I don't want to overdo it. Good idea? Bad idea?

Good idea as an overload method used occasionly with the right workout regime. All the time you will eventually lose the effect.

On the surface, Shinra, it appears okay to me.

How long on this program?

Have you been seeing results?

Best wishes

Been on it for 6 weeks, and yea I'm seeing results. Little at a time, but I'm getting somewhere. The dropset routine is new though. So I'm going to do that for the next 6 weeks and see if I improve at all.

Give the program the trainer provided some time. And, as time passes, if he is worth his weight in gold, adjustments will be made if the results are not forthcoming.

I wish you much luck with it, young man.
