So I noticed another user makes claims to burn 3500 cal per workout. Im assuming they have like a nike+ or something that tells them how many they burned during a run..but like that's a pound! How is this possible and is this safe? I'm usually happy when I burn like 600, nonetheless i'm never really sure if I truly burned that many because my heartrate jumps like crazy...

anyway some enlightenment would be lovely

I would hate to doubt the credibility of users on this forum, but that's a load of bs. When I was running 6 miles a day, I probably burned maybe 600 calories? I think like professional cyclists burn an insane amount of calories during Tours. But they also eat calorie dense things so they don't die. But I don't think people are cycling 100s of miles a day. Even the pros don't do that.

The only thing I could think of is maybe their total calories burned that day? Including maintenance calories? Burning an EXTRA 3500 calories aside from maintenance calories is ludicrous and one can only imagine it being way unhealthy.

3500 is what I burn you might have seen me say it. I have a counter that keeps track of my miles biked, cals burned and the time it took. I know that is extreme (have you see my pics?) But i had a big goal in only 6 weeks

When i run i dont burn that much i have a app that says 100-200 but i dont know how accurate it is. When i had my my counter that counted my steps and calorie burned it wasnt far off.

I burn 3000-3500 a day and eat 1200-1400 its working for me i lost 21 lbs. Again take a look at my pics

is it throughout the WHOLE DAY or during your WORKOUT. those are two completely different things. burning 3000+ calories a whole day is normal for someone who does moderate exercise. during a single workout, burning 3000 calories seems rather.. outlandish. i'd be a fool if i ran 30 miles a day. every day. or cycled the equivalent miles to burn the calories. i probably burn about 3k calories a day, but to say that one workout burns 3k calories doesn't seem right. at all. that would mean i burn a total of 5.5k calories a day, and that's just not feasible day in and day out.
