burn fat and build muscle?

I am an average height guy with a somewhat small frame. I am by no means overweight, but I do have this little fat pad in front of my abs and man-tits that I have been carrying around with me nearly my whole life. Whenever I build my pecs, it just makes my tits look bigger. Please help me burn off this embarrassing flab while putting on muscle. Is it possible to do both at the same time, or do I need to focus on one before the other?

Like I said in another recent post, your man tits can be related to hormonal imbalances and a problem known as gynecomastia(google it). If that is the problem, then no amount of chest presses will help you lose your man tits. But most likely, you just need to lower your bodyfat percentage, and the best way to do that is through proper nutrition and high intensity interval training. Jogging, or moderate intensity exercise will get you just about nowhere, you need to really up the intensity to get really lean. I would recommend training with kettlebells(i'd recommend dragon door: ), and performing high intensity snatch intervals. As far as nutrition goes, the only plan I've used that works for both burning muscle and building fat is the warrior diet: . This will not be something you are used to, but the payoff is incredible. I hope this information helps, let me know if you have any questions

Thanks for the great advice! I am hoping I don't have gynocomastia. lol I will try the high intensity cardio method, as this is something I have never really gotten into, and that may be my whole problem. I would like to ask about combining that with weight training. I have read that if you are trying to pack on muscle, doing a lot of heavy cardio may hinder your progress and use up some of the energy you would be using to build muscle. What are your thoughts on this? What would a typical weekly routine look like that included both high intensity cardio and strength training?

These forums have deteriorated indeed. College students are spamming the place to death with affiliate links.

There are stickies in the weightloss section, stickies in the nutrition section and stickies in the weight-training section.

Yes, too much cardio can indeed hinder muscle gains, so I'd leave that out completely. My weekly routine consists of training kettlebells daily(at night), and lifting heavy 3-4 times a week. So for example, on Monday I get up at 6:30 am and go to the gym and heavy compound movements such as deadlifts, weighted dips, weighted pull ups, Bench(sometimes incline bench), Rows, Squats, etc. I waste no time performing "isolation" movements, they are simply not functional or needed unless you want to compete as a professional bodybuilder. Then at night, around 6pm Ill do my kettlebell routine, all in a high intensity interval, circuit based format. So for example, I'll typically combine 4-6 kettlebell exercises together, perform each for 30 seconds, then rest about a minute in between sets. I post my daily workouts on my website, so you could follow along with that to get a good idea! heres the address , you will find the workout of the day on my blog page(chronicles of strength). GOod luck and hope this helps, again let me know if oyu ahve any questions, id be happy to help
