I have been on here off and on for a few years. Keep trying to get back on the band wagon and keep falling off again!! At one point in time I had lost 24 pounds and had only 16 more to go!!! Then I gained nearly everything back. Lost a couple pounds again, then gained it back, ect.

I just joined a beginner burlesque/fitness class (60 min class). We meet once a week for 6 weeks, then have a burlesque performance at the end!! So this is MAJOR motivation to lose some weight! Thinking about going on stage in a little corset, and ruffle shorts and not much else makes me want to make sure I am as light at possible by then, haha!

I did my first class on Monday (September 17th). Didn't eat well that day, but started eating well on Tuesday. I am trying to work out 6 days a week. One of those days will be the dance class, one of those days I am trying to go to a more fitness class run by the same people that do the burlesque class. This class has uses dance, as well as things like burpees, jumping jacks, lunges as exercise. They also do yoga. This is a 90 min class Then the rest of the days will be gym work.

So this week I did (so far)

Monday - Burlesque Class

Tuesday - Gym Workout (right now I am doing half an hour treadmill, half an hour elliptical. Want to add some weights, and also some cardio from the dance moves I learn at the classes)

Wednesday - Fitness Class

Thursday - Gym Workout

I also ride my horse 5 - 6 days a week of hard work for 45 minutes, plus tacking up and untacking.

I am not counting calories, though I will check calories on something to see if it's way high or something if I am unsure of what it might have. I am mostly just making sure not to eat due to stress/boredom and watching portion sizes.

Some sample meals are

Pita Sandwiches (Just pita, meat, cheese, no dressings/sauces)

Homemade pizzas (pizza shell, pizza sauce, bbq sauce, pineapple, meat, cheese)

Salmon and potato/pasta

Alphaghetti or Michelina's (quick and easy to grab for work)

Snacks are often fruit, or carrots, sometimes granola bars or cheese buns depending on what size of snack I think I might need.

Thanks guys! I have been doing pretty good. Taking my lunch with me every day instead of buying food, eating smaller portions and getting to the gym. I did unfortunately miss going to the gym today as I have been completely exhausted today. I hung out with friends till 2:30am both friday night and saturday night. I also had to work 6 days this week including Saturday at 8am so had VERY little sleep that night. I have also had a touch of a cold, and things in my life have been a bit stressful. So today I slept in a bit, had to go out for a few hours, then came back home and crawled into bed and slept again for 3 HOURS!!! And I still feel exhausted, and am going to a friends house for dinner so won't even have time to go to the gym. I weighed myself a couple days back and it showed a loss but I am not gonna record it as I want to do more of a weekly weigh in.

I weighed myself this morning and it shows that I am down 3 pounds!!! Yay! And this is RIGHT after the weekend where I went to a couple parties and had small portions of chips and a couple cans of pop! Quite happy, now to just keep it up!

Hey Mystic! It looks like you're off to a GREAT start! My sister started doing burlesque earlier this year and she LOVES it! She's doing her first solo show next month. I didn't really know much about it before but it looks like a good workout. Anyway, I really like your approach to weight loss. Counting calories can be a bit daunting at times and a lot of people set really strict rules when they're first starting out and if they break them give up really easily. I think exercise is really important and it certainly looks like you'll be doing lot of it! I'm so jealous you have a horse!!! I LOVE horseback riding but lessons are just so expensive so I volunteer at a barn but even still I don't get to ride very often. I'd LOVE to have my own horse. What kind do you have??

AThank you.
My current competition horse is a Canadian Sporthorse. My old retired mare is a thoroughbred.

So just thought I would give a run down of a usual day

I don't generally eat breakfast in the morning, just don't have the time or appetite.
At work at 7:45
Lunch whenever I find time
Work till 3:30-5 Depending on how work goes.
Then straight off to the barn with takes a good 2 and a half hour to get there ride and get back home. Get home 6-7:30
Eat a quick snack then to the gym in my building. Work out for an hour and 15 with some stretching/ab work. So finish around 7:30-8:15
Then make super and chill for the rest of the day. Phew.

Had a great day today! Other than being stressed kinda randomly. Ate great, worked out hard. Hoping to bypass my mini goal!!

Welcome (back) to the forum. Congrats on a super first week, looks like a very busy schedule you're on right now.

I couldn't imagine starting out with a six day a week workout schedule for fear of burning out. Looking forward to the updates

Thanks.

6 days may seem like a lot, but if I plan for 6 days and something comes up at least I have done 5 days. Plus I am just mostly doing cardio now which doesn't require much resting in between like weight does.

I agree. I workout 5 or 6 days a week, but I only do non-stressful exercising.

I agree too. I find that if I stick to plan 90-95% of the time...I still lose weight.

Nice start...keep it up.

Loads of respect for being able to fit 5-6 days of exercise into an already busy schedule.

Shows a lot of commitment and dedication and the results are sure to continue.

Thanks guys.

This next month will be a bit easier. I am taking the month off in October of serious riding and turning my horse out to 'let him be a horse'. Only riding when I feel like it instead of having to go 5-6 days a week. This will allow me a bit more free time and a month to de-stress.

Had a fun dance/workout class today. Ate well.

Phew! What a work out today!!!

First off, had a fairly long day at work. Then headed to the barn and took my horse on a trail ride. That was nice though my horse was a bit wired and spooky so it took some finesse to get him around.

Then did my workout. I have been doing 3 and 1 minute intervals but today was able to do 4 and 1 intervals. Yay!

I raised Quarter Horses. Had a Foal every year around Derby time. I broke them myself until my Stallion Arapahoe Joe broke me days before final exams my 2nd year of law school. I broke my right arm and had to write out all my exams left handed. Man was that painful. That might have been the beginning of my downfall. I sold all my horses and spent all my time reading law books.

That's terrible timing! I have been lucky so far, after 15 years of riding, most of those competitively at a high level of jumping I have never had a serious injury, Only bumps and bruises *Knock on Wood*

Ate well today, but I don't know if I will make it to the gym as I am super tired today and still have to work tomorrow (working a ton of 6 days a week)

Oh, but I did weigh myself today! It said I lost another 0.8 of a pound!! So stats are now

Starting Weight: 168lb (Original Weight from a few years ago, my heaviest)

Current Weight: 161.2lb (6.2 pounds to mini goal weight)

Mini Goal: 155lb by October 27th

Final Goal: 128lb

AI didn't make it to the gym yesterday but I just got back from the gym today and had a good workout. A friend offered to bring me lunch today at work but I told him 'you can come for lunch but I am eating the lunch I brought!' Yay for not getting bad food! Though in all honesty I was really looking for ward to my lunch of tuna pita sandwiches anyways!!

Went to the gym again today which means I made it! Worked out 6 days this week!! I did have a cheat meal today. Me and a friend went to the mall and I had Sbarro! I can tell my stomachs getting a bit smaller because I couldn't finish it all like I normally do. I still should only be over my calories by 300-400 and I have been doing very well so I am not unhappy at all and think that one bad meal a week is actually going to be something I plan for.

The scale showed a big loss today but I am not gonna count it. A) I am TRYING to only weigh once a week, but dang that's hard, haha. and B) I ate quite early last night and I think that's why it showed such a big change, just cause I didn't have much in my stomach.

Very well done on the six workout week. :hurray:

And you're absolutely right about the one cheat meal a week. It's not about being perfect all the time, so one meal out of 21-35+ in a week can be worked into the plan quite easily.
