Bula

That's what I named my "shelf butt". Bula. I have always made the joke that I have three butts. The fat on either cheek could easily have been a butt all it's own, and I have what looks like a huge growth petruding from my lower back, resting on the top of the cheeks. Three butts.
I have been losing weight since June of last year, and am happy so far about my 65 pound weight loss. I have twenty or so more to go, but that won't be a problem.
To target my butts, I have been doing the elliptical, along with squats, lunges, and some exercise ball stuff. Bula's cheeks are beginning to subside, but that "top butt" is going nowhere fast! It appears that I have entered into war with Bula, and apparently, internet is completely devoid of information about eradicating a "top butt".
I don't necessarily have to have a supermodel's butt, but (hehe) I would like to lye on the floor and do crunches, floor exercises, or fit into the right pair of jeans. I can't right now because my butt is so disproportionate to the rest of my body that it literally causes back pain after only a couple of minutes of laying on my back. I'm so close to the end of my weight loss, I really need some help with this last bit... any suggestions?:nopity::nopity::nopity::nopity:

targeting is impossible

There is no such thing as "spot reducing" as they used to call it. Your body just wants to store excess fat in your butt. You will have to hit your target weight and see what you look like then. You can tone muscles of a certain area but you can't target fat. Lunges, deadlifts and squats all help target your glutes and general leg muscles (quads, hamstrings etc). Plyometrics (jumping exercises) and sprints/intervals are good too. Your explosive speed comes from your butt muscles so work on being able to move quick.

For me I lose leg fat, back fat, face fat and the belly fat in that order. In order for me to have a six pack i will have to be at or below my goal weight. It's just how where I store fat.

Sorry :(

Usually the place where you put on fat first is the last spot where it will go away.

Unfortunately, that's usually the same spot where you *really* want it gone.

All you can do is persist and keep going, and it'll eventually come off (at least on an exercise/nutrition regimen that actually gives you results).

It can be annoying though...

In my case, whenever I focus on losing fat again, I'm quick to look all skinny in my face. While that may not seem like the biggest of problems to many, it's really exhausting and not motivating if people are constantly saying "you're getting too skinny".

But then... it's usually 'fat' people saying that... so I guess they have different standards :)

Ain't that the truth!

We all have our problem areas. Mine is my thighs. The only way to be slim everywhere is to keep loosing.

Target exercising is, unfortunately, a myth.

Try to be patient and find a target weight where you are happy with your rear.
