broken ankle -- trying to keep in shape

hi. i started running on a couch-to-5k plan. but about 5 days into it, i fractured my lower fibula (because of clumsiness, not running). the muscles/tendons have healed, but the bone's still working on it. i'm in a walking cast (toe to just below my knee), and still have at least 4 weeks in this thing.

i'm trying to still work out, but running is obviously out. crunches and girl push-ups are about all i can think of. anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do for aerobic/fat burning exercises in the meantime?

Best fat burning exercise is strength training ;)

Bicep curls, chest presses, shoulder presses, lat rows, lunge on the good leg!, ask the doc if you can swim

SkinnyJenny....this would be the time to really focus on toning your upper body ;) I'd focus on anything sitting down where you can focus on stablizing from your core and not so much involving your foot/leg.

DO NOT GO SWIMMING. You cannot get that cast wet. And do NOT lunge.

There are tons of upper body machines you can do and exercises with dumbells.

just make sure u stay off that ankle no matter what, i work in a dance studio and ive seen too many girls think they are ready to do stuff before they are actually ready, and u end up hurting urself more, because u didnt allow the proper healing time.
