I'm Courtney I am 21 almost 22 and I recently got engaged. I have always been heavy and have tried a few times to lose weight but this time I am in it for real. I got engaged in October and we plan to get married in the Summer of 2008. I want to be in shape for my wedding and healthy for the rest of my life with my future husband. :-D

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
I started at 257.5 lbs. I am 5'6. I want to lose at least 87.5lbs. That would put me at 170lbs. I don't know how far I want to go because I have never been under 200lbs.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? I have about a year and a half until my wedding but the sooner the better. I know I have to take it slow and I am going to make sure I have plenty of patience.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? I want to accomplish my goal naturally. No pills, no surgery. I want to eat right and exercise. I want to be able to live a normal life after the weight loss and not have to keep taking pills or something.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? Everyone on this board is very supportive. My Fiance' is also my biggest support. He is also trying to get into shape. We are in it together. My family.

-- How realistic is your goal? I feel that my goal is realistic. I know that 87.5 lbs might take me longer than a year and a half but thats ok. As long as I eventually get there.

-- When will you start? I originally started in Sept 2005. I was doing weight watchers and I started at 274.3lbs, but I lost about 24 and then gained a few before restarting. I restarted on January 2, 2007 and this is what I consider my real start date.

I have stopped drinking soda and increased my water and decaf tea. I have also stopped eating white bread, rice and pasta. I have whole grain and whole wheat everything. I have been trying to eat at least 3 servings or more of fruits and vegetables. And I stopped going to fast food (unless completely necessary and I make good choices, I won't lie I'm a student I am always on the go). I also started taking a Multivitamin as well as a calcium suppliment.

I originally planned to work-out at least 30 mins for 5 nights a week, but the other night I was able to walk 60 mins on the tredmill and so I am going to push myself harder to keep that up.

I will update as often as I can.

I had my first weigh - in today and I am down 5.5lbs since last week.

Courtney:)

It sounds like you are making a good start on it, Courtney :D
The 60 minutes on a treadmill means you are already in pretty good shape, so you have that going for you, it's a lot more than I can do at one stretch, that's for sure. Keep us updated! ~QJ

Hi Courtney,
You and I have the same starting weight - and let me tell you from experience, you CAN do this!!

It's one day at a time, sometimes one meal at a time but it CAN be done - just keep doing it :D

Hi Courtney,

I'm trying to loose weight for my wedding in Summer 2008 as well, and I join this forum to keep myself focus & motivated. People here are so nice and there are a lot of helpful tips and encouragement. Let's all work together and we can definitely meet our goal :)
