breathing weight loss?

Hey everyone,

I'm 25, and all of my life excess weight was a total disaster, screwing everything I start.

Now I got really tired of searching for the right wl solution and desperately falling on everything internet has to give. Now I found (product name removed) which sounds too good to be true (resistance breathing for losing weight, which is strange right from the start though I heard of yoga breathing). Here they offer some sort of a device, and say "fill it with water and breathe 10-20 minutes a day!" And that supposed to make me slimmer? No, really, I believe in miracles, but can this actually help? Did any of you try it? Please i need some advice.

ok, I edited your thread to remove the product name cause it is pretty much advertising this crap idea. No, you will not get slimmer breathing into a device with water in it. You lose weight with calorie reduction and/or increased calorie use.

I totally agree with Jericho. This isn't true you want get slimmer like this. The simple formula for weight loss is to burn more calories than you consume.

I was surfing tonight to find a bit more info (I really don't believe that only calorie restricition can help weight loss) and stumbled upon this - it's the official answer from a doctor. What can you say about that? So it is possible to lose weight by breathing correclty? I'm in a stump...

Ok. Can't even connect to the link but if you don't think that just reducing calories will cause weight loss, then I don't know what I can do for you. See, it's basic science. Energy has to come from somewhere. Your body needs X energy to stay alive and run through the day. That X energy (calories) comes from the food you eat. When it needs more than what you eat, it takes it from the body itself. While the body will take some from muscle, it also takes it from fat.

Thus...if you need 3000 calories just to exist and you eat 2500 calories a day, the body takes the other 500 from other sources (muscle and fat..which is why it is suggested to exercise as well to help the muscle). In one week, that is 3500 calories..roughly one pound.

I also did more research into this and what you are asking about is a fad diet, and not even a good one. Many doctors like Richard Godfrey, chief physiologist at the British Olympic Medical Center, says the effectiveness of the technique is highly doubtful.

Really..open your eyes.

Really, I did. And somehow it turns to be a scientific fact--http://mb-soft.com/public3/weight7.html (no ads there). Just read it through and try to rethink.

Also, you can refer to "Jumpstart your metabolism" book by Pam Grout

A link for Richard Godfrey's comments about the subject would be highly appreciated.

You know..sure is interesting that you are trying to promote this crap because it is easily the most idiotic thing I ever read. You are talking to someone who has to go through this spam and 'lose weight now' stuff every day.

You really think that because we have too much carbon in our body, that is why we are fat. So if we just breath more, we will get rid of that carbon and lose weight.

REALLY?

Your body needs the oxygen in the air you breathe to burn fat and carbohydrates for fuel. It will only use up as much oxygen as it needs depending on how long and hard you make your muscles work. You can sit in a chair and deep breathe all you want but the body will only take what it needs. If it were true that we only needed to increase the amount of oxygen in the air we breathe to lose weight, then there would be no more obese people in the world because they would simply attach themselves to an oxygen tank.

I'm calling it a fraud and complete scam that actually goes against science. If you want to say more about it, fine but I will delete anymore of your posts that violated forum rules on advertising.

STOP LOOKING FOR SHORTCUTS!

Okay, it's not about the oxygen, it's more of the diaphragm breathing. But I guess you can't see this with a "calorie restriction" narrowed view, so I pass. It's easy to call something a scam or a gimmick than to research more.

then there would be no more obese people in the world because they would simply attach themselves to an oxygen tank.

pity you don't know that they would have burnt their lungs instead of getting slim...

so..now it isn't about the oxygen even though that is what the guy you linked talked about..

Let me put it this way. If it was all about breathing, no one would be fat would they? Oh wait, you mean we are all just breathing wrong despite it being biological and something we all must do.

how about this fact..you said it isn't about the oxygen but the product for this crap says 'The same thing happens in your body — fat is burned faster when your body gets extra oxygen. All that remains afterward is water vapor, toxic substances and carbon dioxide-all of which are regularly exhaled.'

which, might I add, is a website that had me laughing all day. I mean, you actually are falling for this?

Dude, I think you have a financial stake in this. It is the only thing I can think of. The product is a tube and a cup for some water. If you REALLY think this work, save yourself some money and get a watering pot and breath through that.

Here's what I found aside this crap about gimmicks -- Frolov training device, which is in fact the same as Breathslim, or the last one is the same as the Frolov's device. The effects of the Frolov's device have been known in the wrold since 90s and there's a LOT info circling in the inet. How about that? You call it a scam too?
