Breakfast the crappy meal of the day?

Now I don't deny that this might be the most important meal but I honestly don't believe a lot of people enjoy breakfast as much as dinner. I mean bacon and eggs are great and all but to compare it to a rack of ribs? It's no wonder people skip breakfast to save up for dinner but in the end just snacking all day. I look forward to dinner but never for breakfast. Maybe it's because of the variety there is to dinner and breakfast just gets boring. Eating breakfast is a big problem for me, how about you guys? And what are your excuses lol?

I like breakfast - well I like coffee and breakfast foods go with coffee...

a rack of ribs would be a big ewwww from me - however -bacon....oooooh bacon.. and none of that turkey bacon crap - gimme some fresh thick cut irish bacon... no nitrates all delicious... :D

Breakfast can be anything... doesn't have to be frosted flakes and toast and milk and juice :) it can be what you enjoy...

it can also be something you can grab and go- like peanut butter and a banana on a tortilla or a pita bread -

I also love breakfast for the coffee factor. I drink my coffee black, and enjoy a moderately sweet breakfast with it. Usually peanut butter and honey on toast, a bagel with almond spread, or a couple of pop-tarts.

But then again I also love lunch and dinner....

I force down my weight control oatmeal as often as possible along with water, an apple, yogert and green tea. Not nearly as exciting as nachos, but I'll prefer the oatmeal body vs. the nacho body I have.

Lately for me it's been a protein shake... Not too exciting. I want to try to start eating something before i go to the gym in the morning because I usually do all my workouts on an empty stomach (don't know if that is good or bad) and then I usually follow them with a protein shake within 30 minutes. So, to start eating something before the gym, I'm thinking kind of light, maybe a piece of wholegrain toast with some pb, or a yogurt, if I'm just going to come home and have a protein shake after the gym anyways...

I habitually eat a cup of bran cereal, a cup of milk and about a third of a cup of some berries or other. Then I'll usually also have a banana about 30 minutes to an hour later.

The thing is - if I'm feeling really lazy and I had something really good for supper that there are left overs for - I'll have left overs for breakfast. I hate to say it, but when I do order out for pizza, it's a given that I'll have some for breakfast the next morning.

Basically, the only rule for breakfast - the only thing I think is a hard and fast rule - is that you should eat a little something within a couple hours of getting up in the morning because it helps you to avoid going for the sugar binges mid morning into afternoon before you sit down to lunch. As long as what you eat is good quality nutrition, it shouldn't matter if it's "traditional" breakfast food. I see nothing wrong with 3 or 4 oz. of meat and veggies if that's what you like. Shoot, in Russia, they eat their heaviest savory meal of the day first thing - that's when they have roast and potatoes. At least that is what my Russian language prof told us when I took the first semester of Russian as a second language - and he had visited the USSR at least 5 times when I took his class :p

The whole bacon and eggs and sweet breads for breakfast is more of an American thing, I think. Maybe it's shared with western Europe, I don't know. But do what works best for you - eat healthy, what you actually like and will stick with :)

God Bless,
mik

mmmm i love these bran muffins with rasberries and blue berries...other wise a fruit smoothie.

oh and beans on toast!!

me, i prefer dinner, because i have time to look forward to it and to prepare it.

but then again i have never been a lover of breakfast

breakfast is the shit!

i'd rather have bacon eggs hashbrowns scrapple waffles and loads of syrup ath the beginning of my day knowing im going to use its energy at work and school than have a fatty dinner thats going to be sitting in my stomach while i sleep.

I usually have toast with peanut butter or cereal. Super boring. Everything else is too time consuming. I guess that's another problem, no time in the morning.

There is no law that says you HAVE to have "breakfast" food in the am.It is society that has made up this idea of having specific foods for certain times of the day. Have a turkey sandwich, or a sweet potato, whatever, just don't use all your calories for the day at one meal!!
