Breakfast in a Bag

This was actually kind of a cool experiment - I swear I should buy stock in Ziplock I use their bags so often...

I have an aversion to microwaves.. so I won't use one- it was just an over priced popcorn popper and an excuse to eat processed foods - so I dont have one anymore... but it was handly for a quick breakfast without having to do dishes...

the solution.... ZIPLOCK BAGS...

you want to use a bag that's heavy duty (I use the quart sized freezer bags)

Put a small saucepan of water on to boil... (2 - 3 qt sauce pan filled 2/3s full..

In ziplock bag, put some egg substitute (these aren't bad at all.. and it's easier than seperating eggs to just getthe whites)

Add in whatever you want to to the eggs
I use some grated cheddar cheese (the real stuff, fat free cheese is disgusting to me - I'd rather use less of the real stuff)
Jalapeno Peppers
Cilantro, minced
Some baked ham, chopped up
and some salsa.

(but you could put in whatever you want..

Shake up the bag...

Put the bag in the boiling water.. (So it doesn't get lost in thewater, I use a clothes pin and attach it to a wooden spoon but it really doesn't matter)

GO take a shower...

15 minutes later... Breakfast... :)

The eggs, since they've been cooked in the water are incredibly tender, the cheese got all melty, and clean up is a breeze - dry the pot and throw out the bag.

wow... you are... a genius.

That's great

That is one of the greatest ideas I have ever heard. That just might become one of my favorite breakfasts. :) Thanks so much.

I've heard about this before but never tried it. I heard of people having breakfast parties this way so everyone makes their own 'omlet'. It really worked for you? I may have to give it a try sometime.

I'm not sure i'd do it for a party - breakfast casseroles are easier and present alot better... but it did work... it's not an omelet like though it's really a glob of scrambled eggs... though i suppose youdon't even have to scramble the egg, you could just put it inthe bag,and it'd be an easy poached egg...
