Brand new to lifting weights, could use some advice

Hi, I'm a 18yr old male, roughle 152lbs, I have a thin build, but a lot of flab, and very little muscle. I'm trying to lose my fat, and build some muscle. I got some dumbells from a friend (10, 20, and 30 lbs). And I've been doing some bicep curls, but I'm not sure how many I should do with what weight. Which should I start with (between 10 and 20)? I can do about 15 reps in 10lbs (with good control), and I can go for about 5-7 sets, but most of the burn is just felt in my lower arms. With the 20's I can do curls, but not as many, and with not nearly as much control. How many sets of how many reps should I be doing? I can do a few sets of concentration curls with the 10lbs as well. my question is how should I adjust the weights so that I get the right amount of reps in to maximise muscle growth? What size weights do people usually start at? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, but how many reps/sets should I do in order to increase muscle growth? Is 15 reps of the 10lbs too light, or should I try doing just a few reps of the 20lbs?

Thanks

8-12 reps if you want to get big and dont care much for strenght.
make it so at the last rep is VERY Heavy or you could go to faliure, so you cant completley finish the last rep.
