Hello, I just want to start off with saying that I've been looking for a forum for support with weight loss. My story might be a somewhat unique and some people might think "I can't believe this person has a problem with weight loss," but I do, and I think a big part of it is lack of a strong mindset when it comes to eating. I am hoping that the support from people on this forum can help me overcome this!
I am 23 years old, I am an active duty member of the United States Navy. I workout in the gym for about 60-90 minutes 5 days a week and run for 1.5-2 miles 2-3 times a week. I weigh 195 lbs, and am 5'11". If anyone is familiar with Navy weight standards then they know I am only 1 lb away from having to be taped, which still is bad for me since I am around 20% body fat.
My problem is this though, I am a stress eater, and also have a huge lack of self-control when it comes to binge eating. Also another HUGE problem for me, is I get depressed about my weight which makes me succumb to binge eating even more. It's like a viscous cycle. I get stressed out, and then I find myself indulging in all sorts of food I shouldn't be, eating to the point of being stuffed to where I physically feel like I am going to throw up and my stomach hurts to bend and turn my body.
Right now I am trying to keep my calories at average of 1600 a day of all vegetables and meats. Last week I did this and I lost about 1.5lbs in 5 days, BUT, then I went out to handle some errands over the weekend and completely caved in, and ate out at a restaurant, then had a bunch of cookies and a milkshake, then tons of pastries and candy and popcorn. Ended up weighing myself again today and actually gained 3.5 lbs over the weekend.
As you can see this is very counterproductive. I have the mindset now to stick to my diet and lose the weight, I just really need the support. My goal is to lose 20 lbs over the course of the next 12 weeks(by Xmas time when I go home to see my family).
I would really like a "sponsor," someone who has achieved their weight loss goals, and is still currently active in a weight loss/ healthy lifestyle regiment, that I can send a PM to when I am feeling weak-minded, someone who I can count on to keep a positive attitude and outlook on my weight loss gains, just things a sponsor should do. I definitely would appreciate general support from everyone on the forums also, but if anyone is willing to be some sort of sponsor to me, I would also greatly appreciate it!
