Brand New Here, Couple ?'s

I just registered here to gain some input from people in the same situation as I am. Tired of being overweight and want to do something about it. I have lost and found the same 25lbs multiple times. I seem to know what to do lose it and what to do to find it. When it's time to lose it I use my Bowflex machine 3-4 times weekly and my treadmill the same. My big question is it better to use the Bowflex and then immediately use the treadmill? Or is it better to use the treadmill on days when I don't use the Bowflex? Which is better for fat burning? Thanks ahead of time. Tim C

It doesn't matter really. But being able to give 100% is a good idea so using them on different days, or at different times of the same day, won't hurt.

If you keep gaining and losing the same weight, i'd look seriously at your eating habits...and stop dieting because as you're seeing -it doesnt work long term for you - or most people - figure out how to make your eating last you for the rest of your life.
There's a lot of good info in the stickied threads - do spend some time reading them... and ask questions based on that info

OK, so I may not know much.. :D

I have a bike [have not got the 'mill yet] and I like to always start on that before I do anything else. I feel it gives me a bit of a warmup, and limbers me up a little.

The best reply you've received here is from maleficent.

The magic is not in the exercise nor is it in the timing of said exercise.

You're not permanently losing weight b/c you're looking at this from the wrong angle. Otherwise it would stick. I suggest answering the questions in my most recent post found ; be honest with yourself.

I'm going to be honest here, the reason I keep finding the same 25lbs is because I like to eat and occasionally drink. My wife and I enjoy our summers down at our boat. Everybody eats, drinks and socializes. I will never allow myself to get extremely overweight, but I will not deny the simple pleasures of a sunny Saturday afternoon. This is the only time we go around in this world. This summer I will make an effort to keep things in "check" but I'm certain some of this winter's lost weight will find me again. Thanks for the advice.

See, that's my point. What you're saying here is a top layer reason. You need to dig deeper than that to figure out your real values.

My wife and I enjoy our summers down at our boat. Everybody eats, drinks and socializes.

And that makes sense. Who wouldn't enjoy that? And it says a lot about your values. You value time with loved ones and low stress. It's common.

You have to now find reasons why you value your health, longevity, physique or whatever. Not just reasons like "I want to look good." You need to find core, root reasons to uncover your true values.

Man, I value our time on Earth more than most I've come across. I don't take a second for granted. And I hang out with loved ones more than you can shake a stick at. It is possible to achieve and maintain your health/physique goals while maintaining your lifestyles to a large extent.

If you're comfortable with losing and gaining the same 25 lbs, you're never going to take it off consistently. And if that's okay with you... great. I see nothing wrong with that. As you said, we get one one go at this, so how you choose to 'go' isn't for anyone but you to judge.

That said, given the fact you came out of the woodwork posting for help/advice says something.
