I'm going to be honest here, the reason I keep finding the same 25lbs is because I like to eat and occasionally drink.
See, that's my point. What you're saying here is a top layer reason. You need to dig deeper than that to figure out your real values.
My wife and I enjoy our summers down at our boat. Everybody eats, drinks and socializes.
And that makes sense. Who wouldn't enjoy that? And it says a lot about your values. You value time with loved ones and low stress. It's common.
You have to now find reasons why you value your health, longevity, physique or whatever. Not just reasons like "I want to look good." You need to find core, root reasons to uncover your true values.
I will never allow myself to get extremely overweight, but I will not deny the simple pleasures of a sunny Saturday afternoon. This is the only time we go around in this world. This summer I will make an effort to keep things in "check" but I'm certain some of this winter's lost weight will find me again. Thanks for the advice.
Man, I value our time on Earth more than most I've come across. I don't take a second for granted. And I hang out with loved ones more than you can shake a stick at. It is possible to achieve and maintain your health/physique goals while maintaining your lifestyles to a large extent.
If you're comfortable with losing and gaining the same 25 lbs, you're never going to take it off consistently. And if that's okay with you... great. I see nothing wrong with that. As you said, we get one one go at this, so how you choose to 'go' isn't for anyone but you to judge.
That said, given the fact you came out of the woodwork posting for help/advice says something.
