BOxing and MORE boxing

question about boxing bags.

are the wavemaster boxing bags any good? the one wit hthe numbers on it as a target because i have no room for a hanging bag. Only way to actually get a punching type bag is to get a standing bag. I was wondering if the WAVEMASTER something blah . ( one wit hnumbers on it for targets ) if that will work the same or get the same results as the heavy bags because on the standing bags you can kick better.

Would it get the same results? WAVEMASTER ( standing ) bags AND HANGING BAGS

THANK YOU

They are two different beasts. I am a power fighter myself and prefer to work on a heavy bag. The weight difference between the two is very drastic. I try and snap my punches and kick when I have to use a WaveMaster, but I always end up knocking those things over regardless. Your best bet would be to find a gym with a heavy bag. I personally wouldn’t recommend a WM…but that is just my opinion.

Now…counter points…

If you are just using it for a Tai Bo type scenario…it would work great. You are not really hitting the bag hard anyways.

Or…

If you are just practicing kicks…a heavy bag propped against a sturdy column or wall may be the best option.

speaking of boxing does ANYONE know where i can get a speed bag with a platform for a decent price? lol

Here is a pretty good set that I have in my garage. It's only $59.00

they also have some other similarly priced equipment.

I also suggest you get "The Speed Bag Bible" training program. It is a book and video/DVD

There is another book called "the great speedbag handbook", which I recently bought and was greatly disappointed. It's just a beginner guide, and will leave you wanting more in a few days. IMO It isn't nearly as good as the speed bag bible. The SBB has tons more information, with many practices exercises that can keep you learning for months. and the guy in the video is incredible at it, hitting from all around the bag. It shows slow motion with explanations.

I have also gotten good wear out of title speed bags, and they are less expensive than others.

I couldn't agree more. IMO, The SBB is the best program, hands down. And the guy who wrote it is incredible with it.
