Boost your Metabolism

Your metabolism is everything when it comes to losing weight

Here are a few easy metabolism boosting tips:

1.) Do not try to go in for any quick weight loss programs. While you may lose quite a few pounds to begin with, you may also inadvertently alter your metabolism making it difficult for you to achieve long-term weight loss. Any diet that makes you lose a bunch of weight super fast is not safe generally speaking. These diets will almost certainly cause you to lose lean muscle mass (in both men and women) and this will lower your metabolism.

2.) Consuming the proper amount of carbohydrates in your meal is very important. Understand what is the right portions are for you and ensure that you have it in every meal. You may have heard about Good Carbs and Bad Carbs, this is actually a good thing to learn about. Some Carbs are low (slow sugar release) on the Glycemic Index, some are high (rapid sugar release). Stick mostly to slow release carbohydrates.

3.) Make sure you add enough fruit, vegetable, and protein servings to your diet. Lean proteins will support your muscles, which will help your metabolism. Fruits and vegetables help your immune system, and are very low in calories and high in nutrients, which also supports your metabolism. Most Vegetable can also help to fill you up and control your appetite because you can eat a large amount due to low calorie density. Fruits are also low cal, but tend to be higher than veggies due to the higher amount of sugar per serving.

4.) Sodas are very high in sugar from high fructose corn syrup. They create a fast sugar spike and can even lead to insulin resistance. This is very harmful to your metabolism over the long term. What’s more, they tend to give you an energy boost, only to dump you off a cliff with an abrupt crash later on. If you must have soda, try a diet version instead flavored with a sugar substitute such as splenda. Sugar free powder drink mixes are a good way to get a flavored drink.

5.) Sugar is sugar – providing plenty of calories but no nutrients. Do not be tricked by advertisements claiming that brown sugar is better than white sugar. Brown sugar is just normal sugar with molasses added! They are essentially the same nutritionally, and you need to watch out for how much sugar you consume.

6.) CONSISTENT EXERCISE! But you already knew this, right? Of course you did. Exercise increases your metabolism by the amount of calories burned during exercise, and calories burned from muscle recovery if you do resistance training. Resistance training + Cardiovascular Exercise = Significantly Increased Metabolism.

Remember, these tips only work if you USE them! So give them a try.

thanks for the advice, but if you look carefully this information is already on the forum. You should checkout the sticky threads before posting and similar :)

Thanks for the tips. I actually follow that pretty close. My only vice is the energy drink in the morning. I know those are not good for you.
