Hi,

It's my post to this forum.

I'm on choen's program since Jan 2009. I lost about 15 kg till now even though i'm not 100% on program. Only for the past two weeks, i'm following the program 100%.

Before the program, i was 86.6 kg. Now i'm 71.8 kg. I've fat accumulated on my belly and around chest area. I'm bit conscious about it. Even though i lost 15 kg now, it doesn't look like i lost weight as i still look heavy with my chest and tummy.

As we lose weight, do we lose fat on all part of the body or it remains in some areas?

How to lose fat near abdomen and chest area? Please help.

Hi Lax, and welcome!

I don't have all the answers for sure. I think largely we are stuck with the kind of body and shape we have. We will lose the weight much as we put it on, but there's a few differences as we age.

I lose the weight fast around my abdomen, but slower everywhere else. That's much how I put it on - my stomach has always been grossly much bigger than the rest of me, but I never carry much around bottom or legs.

I would just keep on with it and re-assess as the weight continues to drop. If you get down to a healthy body-mass index, I would expect your body will eventually shed the fat in the stubborn areas as well, which will include your abdomen.

After that, if you still don't like your body shape, the only answer would be to consult someone and maybe go for either specific exercises to try to re-shape, or liposuction etc (though I don't think I'd ever go that far!).

mmm...

Hi Lax,

I think niyah gave some sound advice...
Are you sure you cant see a difference... ?...
When i am not 100% i notice that the first place to bloat is my tummy.. especially under my boobs in the midrift area... so give it a little more time 100%... also i have had 4 kids and carried an extra 50 odd kg's around during my obese years so i also have to be realistic about what i may look like when my journey has finished..

alot of people i have spoken with find that the tummy really is the last place the fat comes off.. obviously its slimming as we go but its at the end when the biggest tummy loss happens...,

Ps niyah i think we have the same shape.... i felt you were describing me.. The only thing bigger then my tummy was my boobs. bah ha ha ha..

Chelle

Me too, but not any more. Now I only have a fat, bloated tummy if I eat bread. All the parts of me that I thought I was stuck with have also gone. Fat bum- gone, fat feet-down a size, fat belly-gone, fat wrists-gone, fingers-shrunk unbelievably, triple chins-gone.
Lax- stick with Cohen's 100%. Your body will shrink even when you have stopped losing weight unless you undo the good work & revert to old, bad habits. I'm still changing shape, 2 years down the track & couldn't be happier. Cheers, cate

Lmao...
bah ha ha.. i forgot how much the forum cracked me up....
:hurray:

My feet, my fingers.. and I swear my neck, they have all decreased in roundness...

Thanks for the replies to my post.

I definitely see a difference but not to the extent i imagined.

I started my diet plan 100% for about 2 weeks and again i slipped off.

I don't know i can't keep it to it during the weekends. Weekends is a great struggle to me. I can't keep myself off from my favourite foods when my family members are having it in front of me.

I need some kind of motivation to hang on with the diet plan i believe.

Laxmiraghu- Your motivation must come from within. We can't do this for you. You must take control. You have to watch out for fooling yourself. Anything that you put in your mouth matters. All of your favourite foods will be there at the finish. You need to prepare in advance for negative, sabotage thinking. How much do you want to be slim? It needs to be more than you want to eat things off plan.
"Nothing tastes as good as slim feels"
Your biggest battle seems to be motivation. Did someone else suggest losing weight or was this your idea. If it was yours then do it 100%. It's your choice.
We can help & support you but you have to want to do it. Think of the advantages in becoming slim. Write them down. Picture yourself slim & able to shop anywhere. Hold that thought. Find some motivational books to read. Look up some weight-loss affirmations online. You have the tools to achieve it, including Cohens' & it's up to you what you do with them. Take control.
"Do you choose to simply know the path or do you choose to walk it?" If you decide to follow that path we'll be there to help guide you, cheers, Cate

The only way to get through weekends is to make your own food, and stick to it. If you make it in advance of when it is needed, you can pull it out and start eating BEFORE getting offered things by rellies, family and friends.

Whatever it is that you like most (Cohen-style), make that and then have it ready in advance. You will not think about food so much on the weekends if you have already had something before everyone else is getting into it. Otherwise, remove yourself from the company of people eating until it doesn't bother you any more. Within 3 weeks of doing this, your attitude will change enough so that you can be around them without it bothering you.

Thanks Cate and Niyah for the sincere advice.

Yes .... motivation is the problem in me. Actually i joined with the intention to lose weight when my Doctor suggested it. I was 48 and rose upto 86.6 kg in about a year and half. Now i want to lose weight but very difficult task. Before joining cohen i tried one local slimming method which costed more than what cohen is offerring. But again i lose something and gained it back. When i was struggling with weight loss problem, my Doctor suggested me cohen. I joined enthusiastically but unable to keep it to it for long time.

After hearing from you all, now my mind stronger to go with the program. I don't know how long i will sustain this mindset. Anyway there is no harm in continuing the program now even though it's bit late.

Thanks for your supports and hoping to get the same support till the end.

Thanks again.

It's never too late, Laxmiraghu. Just go back to the plan and you will lose the weight. Eventually, you can return to a wider range of foods, but to lose the weight you have to restrict yourself in some way. It's never easy, but worth it in the long run.

I was about to say almost exactly the same thing. It is never too late. We'll be here to support you. Imagine how good it would be to be slim. Give yourself your best chance. Follow Cohen's 100% with no deviations. Take it hour by hour, day by day and before too long, looking after yourself by eating healthily should become second nature & you will enjoy watching the cm's disappear. You can do it Lax.
Cheers, Cate.

Hi Cate & Niyah,

Thanks for the support.

Today i was about to deviate from my plan. Controlled myself. Didn't eat the junk food. Rememberd all your words. Some support from behind really helps.

I think if i get thro' this weekend, then i can sustain for one more week. Hope to come down below 70kg by next week. Now i'm 71.5kg.

Well ... as you all said, it's never too late to start again. I'm starting from today a fresh and hope to lose more in the coming days.

You are all helping me some way ... i pray to God that he should help in some way you need.

Bye for now ....

Great to hear today was OK, Laxmiraghu. At 71kg you aren't that far off a healthy goal weight, so well done and just keep it up.

Well done Lax for resisting! Take it hour by hour, day by day & your will will strengthen more & more. Remember "Nothing tastes as good as slim will feel." I'm happy that we are able to encourage you & support you along the way. You can do this Lax. Be proud of yourself! You are taking the right attitude- get through today & then the week-end & then next week and so on until you actually get to goal weight. It gets easier & easier, especially if you stick to the plan 100%. The 'feel-good' hormones kick in & it won't feel so hard because you will be feeling good & you will be taking control of your health. Well done for being strong. Good for you Lax! Cheers, Cate.

Thanks Cate and Niyah for being with me and motivating.

Yes .... the weekend struggle is over. I could able to resist and came till Thursday. Now i'm 70.2.

I don't know day before yesterday i rose 400 gm. Instead of reducing it increased. I weigh everyday morning on empty stomach to get the accurate weight.

But i didn't give up. I hold on to my diet. Today i'm 70.2. I'm eager to see my weight going below 70. I will be very happy and motivated as i was when i reduced below 80.

Last weekend is over now i'm having one more long weekend (3 days) to go. We have holiday on Monday. I need to keep up. Hope i can hold on to my diet.

Nothing more. I'm taking hour by hour , day by day. It really helps.

Thanks. Bye.

Hi Lax & thanks for updating us. Good attitude. Hour by hour, day by day. Measure yourself rather than weighing so often. It's a better indicator of how you are going & fluctuates less. Take care, Cate

Good on your for keeping on keeping on. You will soon get a big boost because you'll see that magic number "6" starting the weight on the scales! How fantastic would that be!

Thanks Niyah and Cate for the continued support.

Today i'm very happy. My weight dropped to 69.8. Hurray ..... it's below 70. Actually weekend i get up bit late. But today i couldn't sleep longer because i was eager to see my weight. When the scale showed 69.8, i was over whelmed.

Whole day i'm very active. Enjoying my weight loss.

I slightly deviated from my program during the dinner time. We went out to eat. I ate asparagas, tofu within the allowance but 4 table spoons of friend rice and one coke. I don't know, when i see food in front of me, i lose control over myself. Food is my weak point. I love food .... almost all kind but only vegetarian. I like to taste new food varieties, going out during weekends etc.

Actually in our home, we go out for dinner on both Saturday and Sunday. Week days, we eat at home. This is the practice we followed for about 5 years now. Now, all of a sudden, if i happen to stop it, it's very difficult for me.

Tomorrow also, we are planning to go out. Don't know how i will manage ....

Wish you all a Very Happy Weekend!!

Hi Lax, I'm really not sure what to say. Slightly deviated? 4 tablespoons of fried rice & a Coke?! I would imagine this will set you back a week. So much for the 60's! Don't get on the scales for a week might be a good idea & from now on don't deviate even with one grain of rice until you get to your goal weight. An even better one would be to have a good think about whether you really want to lose this weight or whether you would really rather eat fried rice & drink Coke. Your choice and your choice alone.
As to the "we go out for dinner on both Saturday and Sunday. Week days, we eat at home. This is the practice we followed for about 5 years now. Now, all of a sudden, if i happen to stop it, it's very difficult for me."
"If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got."
Food will still be there when you get to goal weight. Restaurants will still be about. Can't you put eating out on hold?
I hope for your sake that you decide to re-commit to Cohen's & really give it a good go. Nothing tastes as good as slim feels! Cheers, Cate.
