Blood Pressure

My blood pressure is around 126/59 and whenever i get up from a sitting position i always get dizzy and my vision starts to cut out and everything turns white, but my BP appears to be normal. was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem after losing weight and what to do about it?

Thanks!

My BP was normal pre-weight loss (at about 120/80) but now it is very low (100/70 or 90/60) and I get dizzy quickly. I also black out. It hasn't happend very often, only 3 times, but that is enough to freak me out (once it was in the underground in london and I lost my hearing before I lost my sight and started to collapse, it was the single most awful experience ever, the ones after this have been less traumatic). But the good thing is, all my black outs have been when I hadn't eaten in a long while (20 hours plus) and when I was standing for prolonged times, so if I eat regularly it should not happen!

The way I see it, low BP is better than high BP, only very very very few people need treatment for low BP, while high BP is very dangerous. So let's just count our blessings and just be happy that we are lucky and have low BPs!

The last time I got my blood pressure taken, the doctor said it was "oooooh my Goooood" over "this can't be right..."

I would go see your doctor about it. Extremely low blood pressure is just as dangerous in it's own way as high blood pressure is.

I have the same problem too, though it hasn't been serious enough to talk to a doctor about. Usually when I'm sitting for a long time, and then stand, for about 10 long seconds, everything is white, and I feel like my limbs are going to collapse from under me. It's called Orthostatic hypotension, and it's generally only a problem for elderly who might fall and hurt themselves. Here's the wikipedia page: Orthostatic hypotension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
