Blade 3 - ryan reynolds

hey all,

Just watched that movie Blade 3 . Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biels are in crazy shape. During the commentary Ryan talked about getting in shape for the movie, he said 2and a half hours to 3 hours a day 6 days a week with weights and cardio, strict diet of mostly chicken and energy bars for 6 months.

I know they have personal trainers etc but sheesh. I have been working out for 5 years and look nothing like that, its frustrating and he did it in six months.

Is 6 days a week too much, I always thought it was, I work out about 3 sometimes 4 times a week. what kind of plan would i have to par take in to get in that kind of shape.

Just curious on peoples thoughts on the super movie star workout.

Cheers

Well with them, they have a LOT of money, so i'm sure they eat a LOT, which probably helps witht he recovery process. They might even take stuff that's made especially for decreasing recovery time.

so true
they pretty much buy ANYTHING that will maximize their results.
don't let it get you down, after all its apart of their job and they have to work hard.
Ryan reynolds was on mens health awhile ago and the only supps he was taking were protein, creatine, CLA and glutamine.
His diet was pretty reasonable too, much like the diets most people on this site eat for their goals.
Just keep in mind, ryan reynolds was already 7% bodyfat before he trained for the movie and he wasn't all skin and boned either. Most likely he has weight trained before in his life.

Look at it as inspiration, set a 6month goal for yourself and try to out-do him :p

I should also mention that when you work with a trainer, it makes a HUGE difference. HUGE. I worked with one for about 6 months last year, and I've never been able to replicate my gains without one.

yep they interviewd Reynolds in Muscle & Fitness several months ago too.
big thing to keep in mind is he was doing that, and nothing else, for the 6-8 weeks prior to shooting the movie. He wasn't tied down to 8 hour work days, kids, and trying to squeeze in a workout.

And yeah, he wasn't overweight, and had a decent body to start with. Makes a big difference.

most movie stars are in great shape because they need to be. its a necessity for their job as is, in some parts, having to get fat. although think about danny devito instead of brad pitt in troy.

Yeah. It's occasionally possible for actors to get workers' comp if they suffered a disfiguring accident.

I watched that movie last night. He did add some bulk from his "Van Wilder" days and had very little bf. Looked pretty good, but he had a good body before too.

Now you wanta look at a success story - do you remember the show Seinfeld? How bout his nemesis, Newman?

reynolds were more cut than anything else... wasnt exactly a "big guy." just do tons of cardio and weights three times a week and you can look like him.

never seent eh movie but have you seen charlies angles 2? ...... the irish moffia guy ... jesus christ .... im not homosexual or anything (nothing wrong with that) but i wanna touch his abs, LOL.

plus .. it's easyer (not easy) to motivate yourself to get ripped/buff/thin when its part of your job. and that is your only job (actors/body builders)

I saw a little of Blade: Trinity, but I did get to see all of The Amityville Horror, and he still looks great after losing alot of the muscle gained for Blade. I also agree with actors having the advantage of nothing else to focus on. When I've got work from 9-5 and school from 6-9, the gym is out of the question.

That dude from Charlies Angels looks grose! He's not big enough in my opinion. He just looks like a sucked up tweeker.
