Hello all. I wouldn't consider myself a new mom especially since Imy baby is 18months old!! Either way I am on ortho-tri-cyclene and I wonder if this keeps me from weight-loss. I seems that everytime I am on birthcontrol I can't drop pounds!! Is this something anyone else has experienced??? I just want to loose and I am a bit discouraged!!

Either way I just need a remedy. DH doesn't like condoms and I need something.

Hmmm lots of pills do do that. I think that maybe me being on the pill is making it harder for me to lose weight too!!

I DO know that some brands/ compostitions of the pill are worse for weight gain than others (they can vary quite a lot) So try talking to your doctor and seeing if they can switch you to a different one

Good luck!

Have you considered an IUD - the non hormonal ones have gotten a lot of really good press lately, and people I know who are currently using them, say once you get past the first month... then it's a godsend...

This is really a conversation that you should have with your doctor... there are options in birth control but a lot may dependo n when or if you want another child.

You know I did talk to my doc and he said that this has the lowest form of hormone. He said that it makes you eat more though and does change the hormone balance but he said all bc does that to some degree. I can't get snipped yes because I don't have my medical docs all together. So I am looking for some type of alternative or is it just that I have to take some kind of supplement??? ( I HATE TAKING PILLS!!! )

Planned Parenthood's site has a very good explaination of the various forms of birth control that might be an option, including non pill forms like the Intrauterine device (IUD), the diaphram, Nuvaring, and a few others...

Thanks a ton Maleficent!! I will look into that IUD!!
