hi im new here and I struggle with binge eating ... I beat myself up really bad after and I'm looking to find people who struggle like I do so I don't feel so alone
 
Hi Geordooch & welcome to the forum. Getting to the reason behind the bingeing is the go. Building self-esteem is one our biggest hurdles. Can you get some counselling? Try to be kind to yourself. There are so many people out there (& in here) who do binge. You are far from being alone. It can be overcome, but you may need some extra help. Counselling helped me years ago & I would consider it again if I need it. Cheers, Cate.
 
Hey there and welcome! Therapy can help identify causes and triggers for binge eating, then work on finding strategies to reduce the binging. Group therapy also helps you see you're not alone in this. Best of luck, LaMa.
 
Thank you it's definitely self esteem issues and feeling less than ... I used to self medicate with substances it's been 6 years since I've done that... so now I cope with food but it makes life hell after the bloat the guilt the shame vicious cycle

Does anyone have any tips on what has worked for them or strategies ... I exercise regularly eat whole foods I started meditating again and I've set a few short term goals ... I can't do the binge thing anymore I hate that food when I binge controls my mood and life I want the freedom
 
I'd start by getting rid of all the unhealthy food from your house - do you have times of day when binges are more likely? What do you binge on? Get rid of all the foods that you normally binge on.. I can't have white bread in the house as I'll eat 6/7 slices with butter (mouth now watering..nooo) in one go. So I just don't have it in the house. And by the time I think about going to the shop to buy it, and consider the weather, putting shoes on, etc, the craving has usually passed. Are there any healthy foods you like? If you're a fan of any particular fruits you can bulk buy them and if you binge you've got something you can eat lots and lots of without it really damaging your weight loss..
