Hello all you all out there in computer and iphone world. I welcome you to my new forum thread that will hopefully last longer than a day. Just to play catch up to all of those out there who don't know me (everyone,) I am a 23 year old, 6'1", 250.5 pound single male. I've tried all sorts of diets, when I first started my "dieting" 5 years ago, I was 290 pounds. Since then, I have basically been stuck at the 240-260 pound mark.

The lowest I've ever been in this period of time was 218 pounds, that was a couple of years ago, and after a break up that I took way too hard, I went back up to 240, then got a new stressfilled job and shot up to 260. I've recently cut back down to 250.5, which is my current weight.

So, here comes in the "Veggie Challenge" I've issued myself, and that all my friends, family and coworkers have told me that I will not be able to do. For one week, starting today, 9/22/09, I will not eat meat of any kind. I will avoid milk if at all possible. And I will log it all here, for your enjoyment pleasure! :lurk5:

I've stocked up on the essentials:

Clif Bars (the greatest things in the world. Buy some, I highly recommend them. Seriously. 70% organic, 20% of your daily protein / fiber, high in vitamins, taste like candy)

Assorted fruits n veggies. I tried to buy a mix. I also tried to buy "exotic'ish" fruits, such as mangos and red pears. Something easy on the pallette. Also the staples, such as carrots and celery.

Veggie "meat". First, I would like to say, veggie burgers are to hamburgers to what mud is to chocolate pudding. They look about the same. That's where the similarities stop. I will never try to eat one again. I have yet to try the veggie dogs sitting in my fridge, I may try that little adventure today for dinner.

Soy Milk n Cheese: I've yet to try either of these. I may die from them. If I stop posting, it's probably either because I'm lazy and gave up, or the more likely scenario of dying from eating soy milk cheese mixed with veggie hot dogs. :angelsad2:

Welp, time to go exercise. I'll try to come back tonight and fill in my routine and my meals from today.

:seeya:

Day 2:

Well, day 1 went actually pretty well. I guess I forgot to meantion in my first post the entire reasoning behind why I wanted to try a vegetarian diet for a week. It is mainly because cutting out meat equals cutting out fast food, high fat food, and mainly a large part of what I eat daily. The health benefits of eating no meat are too numerous to ignore aswell. Plus, other diet's I have tried have been too complicated with way too much debate on what to eat and what not to, this one is pretty straight forward :p

So, anyways, back to day 1. I did my standard 45 mins of cardio followed by a half hour of strength training. My meals for the day are as follows:

Breakfast: Soy protein shake with a spoonful of creatine and a banana blended together. That's roughly 200 calories.

Snack: A Clif bodybuilder bar. About 240 calories, 40% of my daily protein / 20% daily fiber.

Dinner: A mango, which is about 100 calories. A juice box of coconut water, which was 70 calories, and a Boca Chik'n sandwhich, with a slice of soy pepper jack cheese on thin buns, which was about 350 calories total. Going back a step, Boca brand food is amazing. A guy I work with insisted I try it, and wow, was he ever right. It tastes just like the real thing, but with less calories and a ton of less fat. This may just be the thing that gets me through the week :hurray:

So, totaling the calories up, it was about 1,000 calories for the entire day, which is way too low for the exercise I did yesterday. That's my trouble with dieting, I always eat way too few calories, and I eat the largest amount at the wrong time of the day. I'll try to shoot for around 1,400 calories today.

Welp, off to get ready for work :gnorsi:
