Big Calves?

I want to know if there's an exercise that will help my calves be thinner but not gain more muscle. Right now, my calves are 13.5 inches but I want them to be 12-12.5 inches by the fall. I don't want to change my diet or anything because I'm already trying to cut out most unhealthy foods. All I want to do is exercise to get a better body.
 
ur calves help you run. That' sprobably why your calves are big because you run a lot so they became more athletic. Why would you want it to be smaller/?! Why does anyone care about looks???
 
we care about looks, because the guys care about looks, if guys liked girls who rolled out of bed and put on a tight ass shirt on their forty stomach rolls, no one would have really great sex! so back to smaller calves, i want to know as well... will running make calves bigger, or is there a way to keep them where they are now?

Yeah. I know this sounds kinda bad but I care quite a bit about looks. I really want to make my calves smaller so I can wear skirts for the summer instead of long pants!

you should start a whole new thread for that discussion :p in my experience, girls care about their own looks alot more than guys care about girls looks:p but that could just be the weird girls i know:p

and about the calves.. if u want to make them smaller i bet you have to make all your muscles smaller.. which you can do by eating less protein, but i wouldnt recommend it

Ummmm, 13.5 for a calf size is on the small size in my opinion. Actually I just bought a pair of half-chaps (for horseback riding) and the chart for the small size is 13''-15'' for the calf. Why do you want your calves to be so thin? It doesn't even look any better. Especially don't try to lose muscle there, because judging by the size you say they are you don't have much! Can you at least give us your height so that we know what is normal for a girl your size? I'm sorry, I understand wanting to lose body fat and be healthy but trying to make a body part smaller by trying to lose muscle seems a little sick to me. Sorry, I'm not trying to offend you! I just hate the idea that women/girls should be a certain measurement. I know many guys who like girls with an athletic body and with some definition.

Well, I'm only 4'11 so my legs look really bad. And it's not just my calves....my thighs/hips also look bad but i'll worry about that some other time. And I'm really not trying to lose muscle here because most of my calf is muscle but some of it is still fat!
 
I would suggest doing bycicles where you lie down on your back, put your legs in the air as if you are riding a bike and pretend to peddle. If you also want your ab workout while doing this, put your hands behind your head and have your elbows come up and touch your knees with each and every rep.

You could also try doing a few lighter jogs and try to run on your toes more (make sure to be in a grassy or soft surface, otherwise you will get tired very fast!).

And lastly, do some toe raises, stand off the edge of a step and let your heels fall down, then hold it down there for a count to 3, then go up on your toes, hold it for 3 and back down. Do about 3x 10 reps of these.

If you put all those together you should be in good shape in no time :) Hope this helps.

Will it work if I just run on a treadmill? Because that's what I usually do now since my mom thinks its too dangerous to be running outside and I think it's way too hot where I am now!

actually, i think i want my calves to be 13 inches. =3 12 inches will seem probably too small for my body so i want them to be 12.5-13 inches. But I'll keep running on tip toes on the treadmill. (;
