Biceps/symmetry

I am trying to even out my biceps becuase my left arm is smaller then my right. I'm basically just trying to get them symmertical. So what I've been doing is on my bicep days just doing a few more sets with just my left arm. Then the rest of the week I do 2 or 3 sets of 6 with a heavier weight then normal just randomly throughout the day. I was wondering, is this counter productive, and if so does anyone else have some suggestions? Thanks a lot.

This generally results in overtraining the arm you are trying to improve and it grows slower! Everybody has some differences in size and strength between the sides of their bodies. As your overall muscle mass increases it becomes less noticable, but it is always there. The difference between a 13" and a 13.5" bicep is more notcable than the difference between a 18" and an 18.5" bicep! Besides, even though it may be very apparant to you, nobody else looks at you closely enough to notice the difference anyways.

what are you doing for compound back exercises? IMO the best way to build biceps in the first place is pull ups and heavy rows.

if you've been training a long time, only the should you think about multiple sets of bicep isolation.
why?
look at how tiny your biceps are in relation to your pecs. now explain why your biceps need as many sets as your chest.

the answer is: they don't, and the fact that all compound back exercises hit the biceps too should reinforce that notion.

please feel free to post your entire workout routine. I suspect its not as well planned out as you think.
