BF Goal

I am 17% body fat and have set a goal of losing 2% in 10 weeks but a healthy eating plan and a weights program.

Is this realistic?

I will have to lay off cardio for at least 4 weeks due to an ankle injury but may be able to introduce some swimming and bike earlier than that.

Please let me know what your thoughts are......

Its doable, although no cardio is not exactly going to speed you along.

You know you can get weights you wedge between your legs to swim with, so you basically use your upperbody only? A good enough alternative to nothing.

Something like this would do you if you can.

Ankle

The ligaments in the ankle are badly strained although I have been encouraged to use it as normal, walking etc....

It is a little early for impact like running but I do have access to the float that will aid me in the pool.

I always thought swimming wasn't very good cardio and not as good as a sweaty run?

Is swimming good cardio then and will it burn fat?

swimming is good cardio. have you never taken a look at professional swimmers? they have great, lean bodies.

i think 2% in 10 weeks is reasonable. keep a good eye on your diet...more than anything your diet is gonna drive fat loss.

I would say that 2% body fat loss in 10 weeks is very doable. Also, because you said that you were going to be training with weights, you may find yourself weighing more than you do now, but being at a lower body fat %. That is the greatest thing about weight training.

I presume good regular swimming will help decrease my waist size?

I am about 34.5/352 but want to get into 34" comfortably.

36" is big on me.

Pesonally I try to go swimming three or four days a week. I don't enjoy it like running (chlorine  ) but I feel 'tight' all day afterwards, plus there is like 0 impact injury. Although breaststroke with your headout the water is a nice way of booking an appointment with a chiropractor in later life...
