BEYOND FITNESS-TRAINING & BENEATH HEALTH-TEACHING?
Personal Training is very much like exercising. They both require “repetitions” of doing.
The word “repetitions” comes from the word “repeat.” But to go to the root of these words we discover “repetition” and “repeat” arise from the word “remember.”
When we train/teach progressive-exercise we are helping he or she to remember their inner-health – heart rate, blood flow, brain activity, breathing capacity, postural stability, mental comprehension, and other vital health functions.
We must, as personal trainers, health educators, wellness coaches, etc. remember that:
Personal Training is not merely part of your life.
Personal Training is all of your present-life in action.
Personal Training is the present-existence of producing “certainty”; not yesterday’s fixed-thinking called “history” or tomorrows expectations which is a “mystery?”
The way, not a way of teaching the right kind of human-health with progressive-exercise is based on keeping one’s capacity and capability alive; it is living to be the actual health you teach as well as live with.
As health educators and personal trainers/exercise teachers it is your “livelihood” is it not?
We can lose sight of this ability by not having an open-heart and sound-mind in rightfully helping/assisting each person that needs guidance, support and motivation with their state of present-health and physical condition.
Personal Trainers must be conscious of where, when, and what it is we are doing in reference to helping others (as well as doing one’s own workout), but also be more aware of how we are feeling when doing it.
The truth of the matter in regards to “feeling how” to what it is you do cannot be taught in any book-of-words. This must be experienced sensually (feel more) not theoretically (think less).
When, who, why, what, and how you approach members/clients is just as important as approaching his/her exercise workout/ routine.
As a Personal Trainer, the thoughts you think, words you use, the gestures you make, define your intentions in creating a healthy atmosphere and initiating a suitable exercise environment for gym members or future clienteles.
Through the eyes of others, your actions can reflect your own understanding of humanity or reveal personal ignorance to it.
Personal Trainers should use their brain-mind to help other minds for right thinking but must not forget to use their heart-soul to help other bodies in living healthy and well.
Personal Trainers are not a substitute for better-health but an extension of living-giving-health that, which begins with your smile, your handshake, your patience… your genuine “aloha” as we say in the Hawaiian Islands.
“Let the good of aloha/health go through you. Don’t stand there and wait for this to come to you.” (Old Hawaiian saying)
Find out whether you can go beneath and beyond words when teaching.
