Best Waist Trimming and Ab-Flattening Excercises?

Any ideas? I want to lose this massive waistsize I have through diet and excercise... Now the only problem is I dont know the excercising part... What routines should I do?

I've always heard crunches are good if done properly. And I love to target my abs with Lying Leg Lifts (I really feel the burn!). Also some type of cardio or aerobics should be in your plan, that will help you burn excess calories. I have found that the first place my weight comes off is my abs. Also read somewhere, "Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym." I read you need to reduce calories, sodium and fat. It also said that most of your carbs should be eaten in the morning. Maybee this will help a little. Good luck.

Heya Proxy

Personally I think the best way to get a slimmer waist line is to reduce the overall fat percentage in your body. I had a 44 waist when I started in April, I never did 1 Ab crunch ever, all I did was cardio and diet, and I was a 36 in September, now i'm down to a 34 inch waist. The only other thing I would say to do is start using weights, high reps and lower weight would give you the slimmer look, do an upper body and lower body workout.

doing ab exercises are great if you are trim enough to show them off, but don't overdo it if you aren't as ab exercises don't reduce fat, they build muscle. However, muscle is your best fat burner, it just doesn't spot reduce.

Hey

So pilates. is regular pilates as effective as Windsor Pilates? Should I spend my money on buying those windsor pilates videos, or just stick to the regular ones?

Was contemplaiting the pilaties thing myself. I have always had a little poky out tummy. It always seams to be the last place i loose any weight from too.

I agree with rachels. abs are made in the kitchen. and when doing abs maybe do them every 2-3 days. This won't really make a difference if your bf is too high though. I would stay in the 15-20 rep range if you plan on doing exercises for them. I recommend the swiss ball. Half the work is getting your core to hold you on the ball.

bright eyes...i wouldn't waste money on the windsor pilates tapes! The tape I have I bought for $5 at Walmart, and let me tell you...I feel the burn!

I think you should invest in a physio ball - like errtu140 said - the big bouncy ball. Not only does it work your abs but it also strengthens your back, therefore strengthening your whole core. I got mine at Walmart and it comes with a chart for exercises to do. However, if you don't burn the calories your abs won't show. Make sure you get enough cardio in, it will really make a difference. Just find what you enjoy and it'll make it seem so much easier. Pilates is great - I take a class - but if you're not doing the exercises right it won't matter. Go with the physio ball and cardio, and of course watch your diet.

I have a physio ball. Haha, maybe I should start using it. I hear they are good for balance as well. Do any of you know how many grams of fat a person on a diet should take in?

Well it all depends on how much you weigh and all that fun stuff. I would say about 20-25% of your daily intake of food.

Any workout tape will work. The prices just kind of depend on todays fads and whats popular at this moment. My girlfriend tried a richard simmons tape and she got a good workout from that. I would recommend taking a class at a gym though. you paid money for it so you'll have to force yourself to go. I would also recommend finding a buddy to go with you to the class. Then when you don't feel like going one day they'll force you to, vice versa.

Pilates works fast

I bought the Pilates tape from Walmart/Target called Gaaim (can't remember spelling). Anyway, I did it for 2 weeks (3 times a week, or so) and I could tell a HUGE difference. The first time I noticed it was when I was shopping. Both kids were in the buggy and usually, I have to bend down a little (bec/ I'm tall 5'11'') to get them going, turn, etc. Well, this particular day, I felt SO STRONG in my abs and back. That affected my whold body. I had noticed that my pants fit a lot looser in tummy area, but I hadn't lost any weight. I know it was from the pilates. Okay, after remembering this, I'm going to go put video in and start this back up. :p LOL!

I have the winsor pilates tape.. I used it a LOT when I first got it, I really noticed a difference..I lost 1 inch off my waist, and I felt so much stronger, but lately I haven't been using it... That's not good. I've been really slacking off right now. I should get out of my bad habits!

Your waistline won't go down if you don't have a way to burn the fat that's already there. Get some kind of cardio work in and remember you can't stop train. You should realy work on losing overall body fat and you should be able to do that with a clean diet and exercise. Good luck.

I don't know alot about wieght loss yet, but from the research i have done and the weight and inches i have lossed on my body running is one of the key factors to weight loss in the stomach, also cutting calories is to, but don't cut out your bodies basic needs as far as fats, carbs, and other nutrients. I gained weight trying to cut calories.

I have Windsor Pilates BUT

I saw the biggest difference from 10 Min Sloutions Pilates (2004) with Lara (she is in a purple outfit on the cover). They have produced other one since then, but this is by far the best.

Easy, quick, really effective! and like $9
