Best types of exercise for burning fat?

Is a cardiovascular exercise the best kind to burn fat? I had boxing in mind, which I read somewhere was a cardiovascular exercise.

To answer your question, yes boxing is a good cardio exercise for burning fat when done properly and with high intensity. I use the heavy bag for my cardio when my legs are too sore to handle running.

Boxing is good, especially if you put a focus on footwork. When you include footwork, every punch becomes a wholebody movement instead of just an arm movement. And the more of your body is used, the more energy can be burnt.

It is also good to do resistance training, using compound (multi-joint) movements to work the whole body each resistance training session.

i think that the best cardiovescular exercise is simply the one that you are able to do day in and day out consistently. jumping rope is also a cardio exercise, easy and convenient.

And depending on how much fat you have to burn, just walking can do wonders. Try to figure out what your "fat burning zone" is in terms of your heart rate for your age, and then if you can afford it, get a heart rate monitor to wear. I really want one!

Buy a Stability ball and do some Pilates. It's easy and will tone up your body in no time. In addition to this you have to do cardio 4-6 times a week for 30-50min and make sure you sweat a lot.

Anything that gets your heart rate up will help you to lose weight. Your body loses weight all over and you cannot tell it to lose one form of weight over another. You will lose fat, you will also lose muscle and glycogen (carb stores).

The best form of cardio for weight loss seems to be interval training- or if your really good, High Impact Interval Training which is interval training but with that much more energy ploughed into it!

Interval training can be done on most machines or in most workouts, what your looking for is 40 seconds-2 mins of going at something as hard as you can, say sprinting or similar, getting your heart rate as high as you can, followed by the same amount of time to slow down, get your breath back and repeat. You do this 6-8 times per exercise and then move onto something else. It works better then straight forward cardio where everything is even as it tests your fitness and constantly changing things so your body doesn't get used to them costs your body more calories then otherwise.

There are some stickies on HIIT which explain it better then I can.

HIIT is probably the best way to burn calories but intervals are good, especially for starting. For example I'm a cyclist, and one of my interval sessions for an hour, including warm up and warm down burnt 1000 calories.
I'd reccomend though starting with some sprints at your local park or somewhere similiar. Warm up for a bit, 10 minutes ish with some light jogging building into sprints and then the main body being as many 10 sec sprints as possible with 30 sec rest intervals. Then warm down by jogging lightly and strecthing.
It kills but it is soooooo effective - next day you will be hurting so try to have a rest day afterwards and maybe even another

Here is a great formula that has always shed fat for me:

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) + Steady State training.
E.g. 20 minutes HIIT running followed by 20 minnutes of jogging/cycling/rowing at a steady state. That should get a real fat burn going...

I have heard that boxing is the best exercise for burning fat. As I know Boxing is tremendous sport because it can be performed at a high intensity while maintaining a sense of fun. It can be pretty dull to run full speed for 20 minutes whereas 90 minutes of boxing seems to go by quickly. And the amount of calories burned in a boxing workout can be significant. One hour can burn upwards of 500 – 700 calories depending upon how hard your workout session goes.
