Hi all..

Here it goes..
I used to walk in a fast rate every morning, 6 days a week, last year. I lost weight, and kept it off since I always exercised.

I later stopped workout out like that, and moved to a new country where I thought that it would be great to go back and workout like before since I gained a little of weight. Since i dont have time to workout in the morning, because I wake up for work at 6am to catch the bus, I bought for myself an Elliptical and workout almost 5 days a week for an hour each on it. I have been doing this for almost 2 months and dont think it is doing the same thing like walking in the morning does.
I workout now at night, sometimes at 9pm and others at 10pm.

Is working out in the morning better than later? When I used to do so in the morning, i used to walk in an empty stomach and when coming back I used to have my breakfast after my shower.
I am believing now that work out in the morning is better and shows more effective results.. If it is like this, i am ready to wake up at 5 and workout for an hour!!!!

I am concentrating in losing like 20 pounds in less than two months because I am planning to get pregnant soon with my first child (I've been married for a year and a half) and wouldnt like to gain so much weight in my pregnancy.

I hope someone could advice me so that I can take action of it soon and lose the weight i need to lose.

thank you all!

suzan

If you are eating the right diet and the right amount of calories you need for weight loss then it really doesn't matter much what time of day you work out.
For some people a morning workout can help optimize effects but that is with a clean diet and proper caloric intake.

Also 20 pounds in 2 months is not a very healthy goal. A person should lose 1-2lbs per week. And really unless largely overweight I believe it to be more to the 1lb side of things. To lose that kind of weight that quickly would not be a healthy way to go into a pregnancy, however if you got into a good workout routine, a good strength training program and a healthy diet, that would put you in tip top shape for a pregnancy.

theleip, thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. You know what's funny? I knew that this was going to be the answer, but I guess we are all like this. We prefer hearing it and not believing it when we think it is true.

Again, thanks for your advise.

i second that
it took me 6 months to lose 37 lbs

ok i havent read the previous post cos im tired, but i can say that ive heard lots of different evidence supports different times of the day, some say early morning some say evening. imo i think its different for different people. personally i find a evening workout to be the most benficial for me. suzan your probably going to have to use trial and error to find your best time

Working out in the morning i believe to be best for two rasons. You are more likely to burn exess fat that your body has stored, and also (to me) I feel better the rest of the day. But there are studies that show the burning of exess fat because there would be no exess food to burn just stored fat.
