Best starting work outs?

So I just restarted going to the gym with my husband (who is starting a bodybuilding career). I'm overweight, (225lbs) and lately I've been going to the gym for an hour to an hour and a half switching between the elliptical and treadmill. Any other suggestions?

Wel from what i read on here like doing shorter spans of cardio but with higher resistance is better i am near your weight 216 i was 225 when i started a monthago and i really noticed going with a 25 minute span on the elliptical but doing higher resistance (or higher incline with tredmills) is better cause you push harder than just going at a slower steady pace for a long period of time, just more efficient i believe, plus i started doing more muscle toning even tho you cant see them yet it will help burn more calories as you build muscle. cause muscle just requires more calories to exist than fat.

I agree with DerbyDoll, definitly add some strength training to build muscle mass. Don't overdo it at the beginning. I know when you have to lose weight you want it to happen pretty much over night. Since chances are high that you will gain back all the weight you've lost or get insured due to too much stress for your joints you better take it a little slower.
