I just had to share this comment an old friend made to me one day. This gentleman was a partner in my running group when I was marathon training a few years back. He had struggled a long time to lose weight and had dropped 100lbs. Running was one of the few ways he was staying in shape and dropping more pounds still.
He once had a colleague ask him snidely, if it was really THAT hard to lose weight?
My friend responded, it is similar to quitting smoking, except you CAN'T quit eating altogether.
I just thought this an ideal comparison and really spoke to me. And it really helps othe rpeople understand what your going through in a different type of way.. in some ways food for many of us IS an addiction at least in our minds. And its a matter of learning to control it, since it can't be cut out of our lives completely.. Finding that balance is pretty darn challenging!
We're all getting there one step at a time!!
