Best books on the subject?

In a nutshell, I was thinking about beginning weight training for strength gains (I might be joining a boxing club after the summer and would like to prepare in whatever ways possible) and looking somewhat better (I'm not completely satisfied with my thin frame). I'm also willing to accomodate my diet to the greatest extent possible to my fitness goals and take whatever supplements might help and the like.

Basically, the same stuff you've probably heard a thousand times by now from newbies on this board.

What I'm looking for is this: a solid informational starting point. Namely, a book or two or three. It's impossible to seek out the valid info from the mountains of BS on the internet and I haven't heard good things about relying on magazines for information like this. I'd like a book about training, diet, supplements, anything relevent.

I can do a search on Amazon and find out what books are highly rated, but I was figuring some input from human beings like you is probably necessary too.

I've heard good things about Body for Life by Bill Phillips. He seems to cover all bases from what I've skimmed over in the book and seems to know what he's talking about without giving you way too much information, if you know what i mean.

Please help, it would be vastly appreciated.

Thanks

If you are going to get serious with the boxing club, you might want to look for books that are specifically for boxing. Because you don't want to train for body for bodybuiding, football, basketball, etc... Just look at the body characteristics of a boxer compared to everyone else. Because you need strength AND endurance...

So this summer, you need to train like a boxer for the club if you're going to join it... Because if you don't, then you may find yourself "behind" everyone else... But if you're doing the club just for fun, Body for Life is a good book to go from, but change it to the way that YOU need it.

Hi schpudmon,

[This is my first post, so I rather ask everyone to be gentle and
considerate. :)]

Have you heard Tom Venuto?

He is expert on the subject of feeding up your muscle, burn fat
and he is a nutritionist and bodybuilder.

He has popular ebook which can be bought through Clickbank and
its worth the money to buy.
