Belly fat! Help!

I'm considered to be very skinny because I have thin arms, thin legs and can make my stomach look flat. When I don't suck it in I look like I'm pregnant. I am looking to lose my belly fat, obviously lol. My belly is not hard it is more "jelly-like". If anyone has any workouts or diet plans to suggest it would be very much appreciated. I don't care about getting abs right now I just want to have a flat stomach... I can think about abs when my belly fat is gone lol.

If this helps:
- I'm 17; girl
- 142lbs
- I'm 5'7

Well, honestly, just pure weight loss is what is needed. The body doesn't spot reduce. There is a genetic order of first in, last out. So, really general weight loss.

Yup, you need to eat right, do cardio and resistance training to get it to go away. The body is a whole when it comes to fat loss - you can't break it into parts! (I know it suck's)

While you can't specify where you'll lose weight, you can do toning in specific areas. It sounds like you're at a healthy weight for your height so you probably don't need to lose weight. Try some criss-cross crunches and ab-firming floor exercises :)

You know I think most girls belly's curve out naturally, but I can totally relate to having a bad day and feeling like I look pregnant. Especially if I'm feeling a bit bloated then I end up feeling enormous. But then other days I feel like I look quite slim. I think this also changes with whether I'm looking at the whole of me or just focusing on my belly. Just remind yourself that its normal for your belly to stick out a bit, you don't look pregnant, and that nobody is focusing just on your belly. Also I'm sure that as the rest of you is already slim that if you loose a bit more weight that wll come off you belly. Toning exercise will probably help as well (I should really take me own advice lol, I'm currently in my exercise gear thinking I'll do some exercise in a min honest!) Anyway, when I do (very rarely) do sit ups I like to do them on a swiss/gym ball, I just find they're alot easier and more fun on them :) Good luck!

I used to be able to do almost 200 sit ups, my ab muscles grew and it actually made my belly appear bigger so I already know that sit ups don't help but thanks. Also no one knows I have a belly because I've been sucking it in for 7 years now and I can actually make my stomach look some what flat but I want to get rid of my belly because sucking it in is actually affecting my breathing.

I do have an update. I have been going to the gym for several weeks (going 5 days a week depending if I'm sore or not), drinking at least a litre of water and eating right. I have slimmed around my waist by a few inches. Still have my belly but it's actually beginning to flatten out around the area underneath my ribs and my belly is starting to get smaller.

The are various foods that help burn fat which can aid you in getting rid of some belly fat. Foods such as nuts, berries and lean red organic meat, use up a relatively large amount of calories through digestion, when compared to other foods. Eating these kinds of foods and drinking plenty of water can help you to lose body fat. Happy eating!

Hey lovely,

do you eat bread and/or pasta?

Try eliminating them and you'll see quick results...plus the training of course.

Try 50-70 kettlebell swings 3 times a week...start light, try doing 10 or 20 then have a 60second rest until you've done 50 at least.

That's all you need to do for a couple of weeks, then get heavier weight.

Check out Tim Ferriss the 4 hour body, he's worked out the quickest easiest way to lose fat, flab and get strong.

Hope you're seeing good results!

Based on my experience you need to do a combination of:

- strengthening the core using core exercise moves such as full body kettle bell swings, dumbell/bar full lifts (floor to ceiling), core moves using body weight such as dragon lifts, etc - these exercises build the core and by default ab muscles

- reduce body fat through a combination of diet management and cardio work

- improve your posture - stand tall and sit up straight - pretty much anyone has a 'belly' if they slouch!

Just as a note, the 4 Hour Body lifestyle is not for everyone. Just like everyone it might work for some, but there are also some extreme things that this guy does, so it's not exactly suitable for the general population, IMO.

Yes maybe, but if you check out his videos he breaks it down to a few basics, which are generally for everyone especially if you want to do it fast

(and who doesn't?) and nutritionally sound, then he's got the answers.

He has very sound advice.

You just take baby steps, like everything.

Hey pip, do you have a link to the videos that you're talking about? I'd like to check them out.

Thanks :)

Do Abs exercises as much as you can do. It happen to girls like you having thin body structure, they have to care of their belly most. Have a chart list of diet which should include only simple food avoid oily and junk food as much as you can.

Check your eating habits. You may have those unwanted fats in the abdominal area due to unhealthy choices of food. Moderately eat carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice) and replace this with vegetables and omega 3 foods: salmon, tuna, mackerel, nuts. Combine this healthy foods by doing some crunches, leg raise and side bends with cardiovascular activities (dancing, aerobics, walking, running) and strength training.
