First off want to say hello - new to this forum so wanted to be polite and introduce myself before I go bothering you all for help.
My name is Carissa, I'm 19 years old and just moved from New Jersey to Florida. Fitness was never a real problem for me because I volunteered seven days a week at a horse farm and although people seem to think horses aren't a physical activity they really are. I moved on September 15th to Florida and after the move I completely changed my way of being - I have an office job so sit around and do pretty much nothing most of the day. Yesterday I went and test-rode some horses for a woman that is looking for someone to ride her three horses for her since she doesn't have the time. While I was there my friend took photos of me riding for me and when I was looking through them I realized I have gained quite a bit of weight. I noticed my jeans were getting a bit snugger but I've always wore tight pants and just bought all new clothes so really didn't think anything of it but seeing the photos really hit hard. My whole family is over weight, some more so then others but I do not want to be that way by any means and would rather tackle this problem before it become out of control.
The issue is rather simple, I have no idea where to start. Like I said I've never need any sort of diet or work out program because I've always been content with my figure until now. I can't afford to go to a gym so for the most part I'd need to do an at-home type routine and I don't have any sort of weights or anything at this time, I of course can get some but it wont be for a few weeks (As I said, I just moved so tight on money at the moment). Also, I have a problem with my wrist that causes it to hurt if I over bend it so things such as push ups are very difficult, I can do maybe 20-30 push ups before the pain is just too much. I'm dedicated and have an excellent boyfriend that will push me constantly so I'm looking for something that's going to be kinda tough of me, I want to give 100% and though I'm out of shape I'm not weak by any means.
Right now the only real fitness I have is I have a riding lesson for an hour every other Tuesday and every Sunday I have three hours of riding time and 2-3 hours of preparing the horses time, which isn't a super big workout but involves semi-heavy lifting, being outside in the heat, etc. Basically - not showering after I come home from the barn is not an option simply because of the sweat (the horse smell I'm used to haha).
I'd be willing to work out 6-7 times a week, probably six since after I leave the barn on Sunday I tend to be pretty tired but I can push a work out on Sunday if it will help. I can withstand maybe 45 minutes to an hour of work out per day, maybe as time goes on I could do more. My problem areas would be my abdomin and upper thighs, my arms and calves are a bit flabby I guess - I'm used to them being a bit more toned but getting back into horseback riding will take care of that in no time.
Basically, I need some help on creating a routine that isn't going to over work one area or harm me by doing too much at once or trying to get speedy results but I want it to be effective where I can see a change over time, something that'll keep me going and get me back into shape since I can not longer work with horses seven days a week. Thank you so much in advance for listening to me go on and for any tips or help offered!
I don't know if it'll help at all but here is one of the pictures from yesterday, you can really see my problem areas and what I need to work:
