Beginer/ loosing Weight and Training

hi im 17, and unfortunatly i let my habbit of eating too much and tablets for my astma make me over weight and i thought it was time for a change.

after getting to a point that i decided to start a deit this time i was serious, (i said this before but this time i seem to be doing better). At the start 3 weeks ago, the first few days i starved my self and i was advised that this wasnt the way to go about loosing weight because my stomach had to get food, after three days of the diet i decided to use a cross trainer(which my bro had but never used) to add exercise to my diet, after two weeks that seems to be helping in me loosing more weight.

three weeks after starting i have lost 1 stone 2 pounds, i am eating two meals a day and alot of fruit, pints of water. one of the meals includes cereal.

today i bought press up stands, exercise mat and dumbbells, altho i dont know what sort of exercise regime or schedule i would need to follow.

can some one please advise me what to do each day, what exercise i should be doing everyday.

i have a exercise mat now, can someone also tell me where to get exercises i can do using this, what sort of techniques or types of exercise i could do using this or where to get directions to how to do them.

thanks for your time and help in advance:confused:   :)

This is from another post I wrote to someone asking that same question, Im just going to copy and paste...

Your in the same possition as many many people. While it would be nice for us to give you everything you need to beggin your training it would be far better for you to buy some books and magazines and get a personal training session.

On this forum I cant give you everything that you need, I dont konw you or your body, I dont know how fit or strong you are and I cant see your technique. Please go to a personal trainer for 1 session so they can help you get started. You will be better of buying mens health magazine and following the workout they give. It will be a safe workout for you to try and then you can tell us how you get on, plus its basic, and has pictures.

This forum is more for answering questions than writting full programs.

good luck

plus, good for weight training info -

if you were my client i would start you on something like this:

for the DB work (which would come after about 4 weeks of the above) stick to easy heavy exercises such as rows, bench presses, shoulder presses, deadlifts and squats...if u don't no what they are search them and you'll find them

hey guys, thanks for the advice so far, to reply to the first reply post, i understand completly that you cant give me a set training guide for me to follow but i was wondering what your advice would be too me and what way i could change my diet and exercise pattern to make me loose more weight.

at the moment guys, this is my pattern, eat cereal at around 11am or 2pm, this would be followed by an apple or more fruit, i then would have a brisk speedy walk with my dog which would be about 2 mile or 3 sometimes more. i then would have my dinner at about 5, this would comprise of potatos, veg such as peas beans carrots or something like that, and meat/fish. i then would have fruit and go on cross trainer for about 1 hour distencing about 16km. i would then warm down go for a short walk then go to bed a few hours later.

im currently trying to add more exercise into my diet, more water, and more fruit. this is why i bought bumbbells, press up stands and the exercise mat.

can someone please let me know where in my diet i coud change or what you would reconmend to change to make my overall diet and weight lose program better.

i also have no info on useing the bumbbells, the exercise mat or the push up stands. can someone please tell me where i could get information and suggested exercises for this equepment as i have serched on internet and cant find any set exercises for this equepment.

thanks for the help guys, and i await your advice, as im sure i want to get more healthy and loose more weight and feel better for it.
thank
philip

Your diet could use overall improvement. Do you not wake up until 11 am? You need to eat more, rule #1 is "You cant lose weight if you dont eat!" You need to eat at least five times a day with a good form of protein in every meal. It may seem like a lot, but it can be done.

Read the site that manofkent gave, except try www.exrx.net instead of .com. There is so much useful information there and video demonstrations of exercises. You need to focus on compound lifts and stabilization exercises to help avoid injuries. I would also ease up on the extensive cardio. Try running for a mile or two with the dog, then you can eliminate the treadmill also.
