Before/During 277 lbs to 198 lbs

Yes, I am a lurker. I've been using this site since October 2006 as motivation/relaxation/get my ass away from the fridge-ation and I need to say THANK you to each of you. Looking at others before and during/after has proven a monumentally beneficial way to keep myself on track, and off the couch.

So here are my first before/during photos. The first (in a blue sweatshirt-that could double as a Olympic Swimming Pool cover. My fiance is a cutie, isn't he?) was taken in October 2005. I was somewhere in the neighborhood of 277. In January '05 (10 months earlier) I took a desk (sales) job shortly after graduating from college. In 10 months I gained 42 pounds. In May 2006 I left that job and have since lost about 68 pounds.

The ridiculous red dress picture is me, at a wedding, as the fat bridesmaid. Its a role I played well! I'm still at 277 here. I added it because of my HUGE SAUSAGE ARM. Nasty.

UPDATED PHOTOS: Hello! Here are two that I took today (sorry about the quality.) Right now I'm in the neighborhood of 198. Joining the "under 200" club was a big, big day. I haven't been here since around 2001.

Thank you for all of the wonderful support.

What a fantastic job! Congratulations.

I am impressed. Can't wait to see you progress even more!

I can see a BIG difference!!! You should be the proudest person possible.. that is extremely impressive.

Especially in the face! Loving the smile... & I think its kinda funny you are smiling on your own now.. without the boys on the arm!

That is awesome! I started out at 280 and am now down to 250, I cant wait to be where you are at 209! How long did it take you to get there and what kind of diet/exercise plad did you do?

oh, and if you look at my before and afters, you can see I too played the role of the fat bridesmaid lol.

Great photos, very evident weight loss. Your boobs look way smaller, and your sausage arm is reduced to a mere hot dog! I too suffer from sausage arm syndrome, so I totally feel you on that anguish. At least one difference between you and me is that I would never, with my arms how they are now, be able to wear a strapless/sleeveless dress! Even if it meant being fired from my bridesmaid's gig, which for me, in my sister's wedding last June, it did. So even when you were at your heaviest, your self-confidence was strong, which is very rad.

Your fiance is cute. When are you guys getting married?

You should stick around and post instead of lurking. People like you who are finding awesome success with their weight loss need to pass on their wisdom!

Well thank you all very much!
Re: the wedding, we haven't set a date yet. I am starting my first year of law school in August, so wedding planning will absolutely have to wait. (i refuse to be the fat girl in law school.)

Re: My diet and exercise routine. On day in October I just decided to finally do it. I'd screwed around too many times with various "diets" but failed to lose a pound. So, I went out, bought a bathroom scale and food scale. I measured every morsel that I put into my mouth and entered it into Fitday.com.

I started to develop a caloric sixth sense. I can estimate the portion weight (in grams and ounces!) for just about anything. Early on I kept myself to 1200/day. After losing about 20 pounds, I joined a gym. I strength train and do cardio about 5x/week. I much prefer the lifting to the the cardio, but I know I need both. I pushed my daily calories to between 1450 and 1750 daily. On days when I need variety, I'll take a kickboxing class or go spinning.

I never cheat, because I never consider exceeding my calories cheating. If I have a party to attend, or I just really feel like having a huge piece of cake, I have it and I never scold myself. That being said, feeling hungry ISN'T going to kill me, so if my calories are used up for the day and I am hungry I go to bed! Food isn't worth the panic. The next morning is just another day. Haven't we all punished ourselves enough?

Thanks for asking.

See the difference???

I blind man could see the difference!

Gorgeous!!

Very well done! Thanks for sharing with us!

I hope neither you or my wife take this the wrong way, but you look hot! From the "after" head shot, I wouldn't have guessed you were over 120. Incredible, great job. I hope to have the same success story that you obtained and are still working toward.
