Welcome to the site. Great job so far, you must feel great.

How did you do it?

Keep up the good work!

Hi, thanks ) I did by using The Diet plate, portion control system and exercise, just the Diet first, then once I was comfortable working out, I joined a kickboxing dojo.

2 years down the line I just qualified to represent England at the world championships ;o) It is fair to say on both accounts that this weight loss has saved my life )

I also have to point out that for the last year I have worked for The Diet Plate in a commercial role. I just dont want people accusing me of selling or being biassed. I came to work here because of the weight loss. I am also studying to become a nutritionalist )

WOW! amazing job! you look great! and wishing you all the best as you move on to your goal weight! and congrats on representing england in the world championships!

if you don't mind my asking, at what weight did you get into kickboxing? i'd like to try it sometime when i get to a lower weight.

Hi Cherry,
I was still quite heavy when I got into kick boxing. I think I was about 29 stone or about 400 lbs roughly. Its not a good weight to start at as my body paid for what I was asking of it, however, it did mean that I lost weight a lot quicker, and it wasnt long before my performance had caught up with the others in the class.

Also by starting at a heavier weight I got a lot of experiance and got fit very quick as for each push up I was doing I was lifting 400lbs!! Not that I could do many to start with. For me it was the dojo, they pushed me but didnt make me feel bad when I couldnt keep up or do some of the exercises, it was a god send )

thanks for the info TaoJames! ...there's a whole bunch of stuff i'd like to try out but i let my weight hold me back and i keep telling myself i'll do this or that in a couple of months when i've lost a bit more weight...you starting to kickbox at 400lbs tells me that i should never hold myself back from doing stuff i want to do! very inspiring!

Start looking now Cherry.... Most Dojo's do a 'taster session' or intro class that is free... And dont just go for the closest one... Look around and visit a few, some fighting gyms can be quite a shock when you walk in (Blood, sweat and tears) and others can be more aimed at fitness than combat... really your looking for one that does both and one that you feel comfortable being in.

I started by finding out which classes were the quietest (5 or 6 people) and made sure I attended those untill I got confident enough to move up into the bigger classes...

Whatever you do I wish you well and good luck and let us know how you are getting on )
