Before & Almost After (121 to 106lbs)

So I posted here last spring with before pictures, lost 5 pounds, and then gained it back plus 3 pounds. So I started again in November and now I am 15 pounds lighter! I'm going to try for 5 more pounds and then start focusing on toning.

And I forewarn you all that these are underwear/swimsuit pics! :willy_nilly::ack2:

This is me at 5'1", 121 pounds.

And me now, 5'1", at 106.4 pounds:

(standing on my toes here... makes legs look better than they actually are, haha)

It's a little frustrating because I actually don't see that much of a difference... maybe I've become numb from trying to detect change in the mirror. All I know is what the scale tells me, so there's definitely a 15lb difference there. I thought it would look like more lol.

Also all the weight I've lost is mostly gone from the waist up. I'm almost too thin on my torso/rib area and I didn't loose all that much on my legs, which is why I started trying to lose weight in the first place. I suppose the only way to slim down is to do more running and weight training and just wait over time? I know I won't have super slim legs but I at least want to get rid of all the fat on my thighs!

Whatever you claim is on your thighs is mostly in your head. I mean it. I don't know if you need me to tell you, but you're already gorgeous as you are. I don't throw that word around. Learn to like it.

You looked good to me before. Now you look a little better below, but too skinny on top. Not good. Too skinny! If anything (and don't freak out), you need to go on a clean bulk to gain a bit of muscle mass and firm up. Are you doing any sort of resistance exercise? (See: weight training). If you feel like you're too squishy, it's lazy muscles that are the culprit. And before you say it, contrary to whatever bullshit you've been fed, it's literally impossible for a woman with your build to become "bulky" without the use of male hormones (the illegal stuff). Certainly not by accident. What I'm saying is I think you should forget about that next 5 lbs and start "toning" now. :)

If you have been weight training, or doing something similar, either that or your diet, or both, need looking at. I have a scary suspicion you've been starving yourself and doing lots of cardio.

Edit: Forgot to add, nice work. :D Haha, sorry. Went into full-on mother hen mode there.

No, thank you for that! There was a two week point where I was eating too little back in November. And then I realized what I was doing was stupid and just cut my normal calories by 500 and did a little cardio a few times a week. So I went from about a normal 1800-2000 to 1200-1500. And cutting the calories was pretty easy, all I had to do was give up fast food. Once I did that I actually starting losing the weight quite quickly. I lost the last 5 pounds between about Dec. 20th to now.

And I am peeved that I am so thin on top and still a little chunky on the bottom. It's like someone took two different body types and put them together!

I can't really do much exercise until it's warmer outside, as my treadmill is broken, and it's 5 degrees outside... and I'm broke, so no gym membership for me. :( I do have a Total Gym though that I can use for toning...

Try hitting up craiglist or those sorts of places for a cheap (or at times, even free) set of hex dumbbells or something of that nature. You can get all kinds of stuff practically for free because so many people go and buy equipment thinking they'll just magically acquire the motivation and never do. Eventually they just want their storage space and end up practically paying you to take it off their hands.

For a little girl like you -- hope that doesn't sound patronizing, I mean you're small I'm just statin' the facts ;) -- 5, 10 and 20 lb dumbbells would be more than enough to start with. I could give you a good full body routine that you could do entirely at home with just those 3 pairs of dumbbells, would only take you 30-45 minutes a day, and would last you up to a month or two. The rest would just be good, clean eating to let your half-starved body know it's okay to spend some on firming up. You don't even need to worry about doing anything else. In fact, I would avoid cardio for a while. I suspect, given your description of how you lost the weight and your general structure, that you have the kind of system that will respond ridiculously well.

Seriously, check into it. Even if you can't find anything, how broke are you? That whole set of dumbbells in hex would cost $40 new here, is why I ask. If you can't manage that, well, there are some pretty decent bodyweight routines I can suggest. The key point here is that I'd really like to see you eat at a surplus and do some strength training for a while. If for no reason other than my peace of mind, haha. :p But I think you'll really enjoy the results.

Edit: This may rub some the wrong way, but I don't advocate the use of machines, at all. So, the Total Gym is bad. Stay away from it. Unnatural movements = muscle imbalances and injuries. Doing bodyweight exercises is much superior, and could actually be a great workout for months to come until you're willing to invest in some basic equipment or a gym membership. The nice thing about the bodyweight stuff is there are many possible variations to most exercises, allowing for a considerably lengthy, continuous progression.

Edit: How exactly is your eating? Is it along the lines of this? A sample diet -- say, everything you've eaten in the last 3 days, when, and how much, do you keep track of these things? You should. With some practice it hardly takes any time or effort -- would be helpful, because I'm still not convinced you're getting enough nutrients... be they macro or micro. You don't have far enough to go to be losing weight that fast. Makes me suspicious. :) It's likely unhealthy.

hmm i sort of agree with you about the pics, i would have thought more difference for 15lb, though you are shorter i suppose.

Perhaps you need to just get a little muscle in the leg to give them shape rather than loose weight ?
I mean you seem skinny enough to me, i wouldnt want to loose any more weight, but toneing up should give you fantastic shape.

I actually see a big difference between the before and after pics. Your inner thighs are more separated in the after pics and your midsection has shrunk. Your face looks thinner now too. All and all, great job, but IMHO I say dont look any more weight. You have a great looking body in both the before and after pics. Loosing more weight might get rid of the nice healthy glow of your face. I honestly can not find anything wrong with your body and I have a very discriminating eye

I can totally tell that your thighs are thinner (and nicely shaped) and that your waist is smaller. You look fantastic! I have the same problem where I lose my weight first in the waist and boobs and last in the thighs .. when I was thinner I had a very tiny waist/flat stomach/smaller boobs but still had these large, flabby thighs. I don't want to lose my chest to get thinner thighs, and I know spot reduction doesn't really exist. if I am at a comfortable weight now and just maintaining, how can I go about reshaping my thighs (if at all possible)? Must I lose more weight/fat overall and how will I know when it's time to stop the caloric deficit and focus on building muscle for more muscular legs?

On the contrary, you (probably) need to gain some weight (muscle, specifically) and/or clean up your diet. What people like to call "toning" is actually a much more intensive process than simply "losing weight". I say this not to discourage you, but rather to let you know that dropping lbs is (comparatively) easy. Barring exceptional genetics, in order to look like an elite athlete or a fitness model, you generally need to eat and train like one, over a period of years.

Whether or not you think this is something you want and are motivated to accomplish is up to you. Such effort isn't really necessary to simply look good and live a lifestyle more in accordance with the norm. Take the OP, for example. She seems to want to look like one of the aforementioned, but doesn't seem to realize that she already looks very very good for what she has put into it (or just period, imo). I'm almost tempted to label her one of the genetically blessed, and I don't throw that around either. Are you like her? Haha. It's hard to tell without pictures.
